I’m going to start this post off by saying that I love my ring. Completely totally. Everything about it I love. It’s my ideal ring. Now, I’ve had it for a little over a year and the band is warped. It was warped when I got it as his mother had been wearing it for the past twenty years, but when we had it resized, we fixed the band and had the prongs retipped. Now a year later, it’s warped again. It’s 10k gold, so I was expecting it to be more durable than it is. I recently had concerns about it losing gold in the under gallery. I went to the beach a few weeks ago and noticed gaps in the top of my ring where I hadn’t seen any before. Like, I could now see through the ring to my skin. Everyone, including Fiance, has tried reassurring me that it’s always been that way, but (and I’m sure most of you feel the same) I’ve spent a lot of time examining and admiring my ring over the past year. I feel like I would have known long ago that there were gaps in it.
I’m just concerned that my forever ring won’t last forever and I don’t know what to do. I want it to last another 20 years (when we’ll pass it on as his parents did), but I’m honestly just hoping it lasts till the wedding. I wear it all the time, it never comes off. If I get in the habit of taking it off and on, I know I’ll lose it. I’m just not sure how to proceed. Any advice?
