Calling all LA bees!
Fiance and I will be flying into LAX the night before we leave for our honeymoon next month, and will be there for a quick stopover from about 7PM on Monday night until 9PM on Tuesday night before we head off to some fun in the sun! However, I just noticed with all the wedding planning that we have neglected to look into our accomodations, food and activities in LA for the day. I’ve never been to LA before and basically don’t know anything about the hotels, neighborhoods, tourist attractions, or anything really, lol. We just want to enjoy our day there and maybe get to see some sights. So we need your advice!
If you were in LA for just ONE day, where would you stay? What would you do? Where would you eat?

@Maurasaurus:If you’re flying into LAX, you aren’t far from the beach. Find a place to stay in Santa Monica, take cab there, and enjoy the ocean views and the cute restaurants.
Without renting a car, your options are a bit limited. But I wouldn’t even recommend renting a car, bc you will then spend your limited time stuck in traffic in our fair city.
I would stay here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g33052-d2257239-Reviews-Shore_Hotel-Santa_Monica_California.html
From there you can walk to the Pier, walk to the beach, and walk to 3rd Street Promenade.
Here’s what the NY Times has to say about 36 hours in SM: http://www.nytimes.com/2002/06/14/travel/journeys-36-hours-santa-monica-calif.html?pagewanted=all&src=pm
All in all, I recommend Santa Monica as a very relaxing stop on your honeymoon.
All the touristy “Hollywood” things are about 45 minutes to an hour away from LAX, in traffic. Just FYI, in case you were in to that. 🙂
