Are there any agility or fly ball clubs in the area?  The way you describe the dog he would probably enjoy those activities, but the owners would have to keep it up though.

@Bracelet00:  I have a St. Bernard who gets bored SUPER easy. He also tears everything to shreds (toys, I mean) and loves tug of war.

Toys that work: Kong Mega Tire. I swear by this toy. I can’t seem to find it on Pet Smart (where I shop) but if you ask for a Kong tire, they will have it. Napoleon cannot, for the life of him, destroy it.

Another great toy is the Kong Air Dog Squeakair. Note: Napoleon ruined the squeaker very fast, but loves the ball anyway. Anything that rolls so for him a softball worked too.

As far as bones go we had a very hard time with this one, but we found a knuckle bone at Pet Smart as well as a Dentley’s brand filled bone. Both of them were given to Napoleon two weeks ago and he has yet to chew them up. He cries when he does chew on them because he gets frustrated with the fact he can’t just eat them and be done. He loves them.

+1 for a tired dog is a good dog!

An hour outside where he can free run (do you have a dog park?) will do wonders.

Indestructable toys: Black rubber kong or bone, antlers are great (dogs love them and they are healthier and last longer than cow bones).
