Bank the cash. The wedding bands will be there later. If it were a vintage piece I’d say buy now, since they are harder to find. But you can go to Zales any time and pick up the bands. Or go to the other place and pick em up.

herrera2016 :  Why not both? Sorry to pry but my answer depends on whether or not there will still be some cash leftover after you buy wedding bands? Assuming you and Darling Husband work average jobs, you’ll still be able to manage financially. No harm in buying some affordable bands and then bank the remaining cash, right? It really depends on whether your financial situation could do with the extra dosh right now or if it’s ok to spend what you need on your bands. But if you’re asking for advice just because you feel guilty about it… don’t. Buy your bands. That’s what I’d do! 🙂

herrera2016 :  If they are on sale (or you have a coupon/promo code), exactly what you want and you have cash left over for all the necessities then I say buy! 🙂

herrera2016 :  Oh well that’s excellent! Definitely buy the bands! $2000 is a good safety net of savings to begin with, and then just save as you normally would from there. I think that’s totally reasonable! 😀 Yay for wedding bands! Go and use that coupon. The chevron bands look lovely with your ring!

I’d get the two Zales bands now. I’m assuming that these are going to be your wedding bands. I’m not really sure why you didn’t buy them earlier – for your wedding in Oct – but it’s a good idea to get them now. If you can get them on sale, and with a discount coupon, that’s even better.

Start saving after you buy the rings. At least then you’ll have the rings you want, and you can enjoy them.

herrera2016 :  ah, that explains it! Well of course then you need to buy yourself your wedding band now that you’ve found one that works with your ring. The price is great. I would do it while the sale is on. You certainly are lucky to have found something that works with your ring, and didn’t have to spend all the extra money on a custom made ring.

herrera2016 :  How often does Zales have a coupon? Thats another question to throw into the mix. If they have one every 4 months, then I’d say wait.

I would get the one you want the most.  If you get one that you don’t want, you won’t like it as much and might possibly want to change it in the future, which will cost more money in the long run.

I find the poll results surprising on this forum; I also wonder if they may have been different if you had explained in OP you actually did get married in October and still don’t have your “real” wedding band(s).

Honestly, I’d take your gifted money and use it to get your wedding bands – the ones you really want especially as they fit with your ring which in your case is not easy without going custom AND are on sale AND you have a coupon. It was an unexpected “influx” of money, use it to treat yourself to the wedding bands you have held off on buying to date.

It sounds like you will be able to start adding more to your savings at the next paycheck.

There will always be another black friday, or valentines day or holiday sale.. unless it’s something out of this world custom, or an 80% off deal you cannot pass up, just put it in the savings. 🙂

it sounds like you would have a good chunk of savings anyway, so I say go for it and buy them.  Usually I recommend saving over purchasing rings, but this seems to be a very good deal and you don’t seem to be struggling financially.  Go for it!  I think they will look fabulous.
