So my mother in law bought us a big box from omaha steaks for Christmas (which is awesome). It included lots of great cuts of meat that I’m excited about but also some hotdogs and chicken fried steak patties. I don’t really know what to do with either since those aren’t really things we buy.
I don’t love hotdogs enough to just have them in a bun and I don’t think I’ve ever eaten chicken fried steak. Would it maybe be good with a mushroom gravy or something? It looks like it just has a standard breading on it so I don’t want it to get really soggy.
Anyway, I’m sure you’ll give me some good ideas. Any/all serving tips appreciated! Thanks!

I love hot dogs in bun smoothered in cole slaw. But if that isn’t your thing. You could find some recipes for sausage and just use hot dogs instead. Like hot dogs and grilled peppers or saurkraut. I also make a great hot dog fried rice.

swonderful: I love chicken fried steak. I like it best with a white country gravy with lots of black pepper. Served with mashed potatoes and corn, mmmmmm!! And hotdogs can be frozen — do you see yourselves having a cookout next summer?

As a southern girl, chicken fried steak is a must with white pepper gravy (milk based gravy) and mashed potatoes. Completely a guilty pleasure meal. They’re also pretty good as a sandwich.

For hot dogs we buy or make coney sauce and top with mustard and onions. Amazing!!

Ohmigosh I wish I could take those dogs off ya for some of those coleslaw dogs PP mentioned, and that white pepper gravy on the chicken fried steaks! Uh oh starting to salivate over here, time to log off and make some dinner lol =P

Wow, thanks for the white gravy tip! I’ll definitely do that because you guys seem pretty unanimous 🙂 As for the dogs maybe I will just keep them frozen until cookout season. Thanks bees! I knew I could count on you!

swonderful: Chili cheese dogs, Mac n Cheese with hot dogs cut up, grilled dogs with different toppings. That’s all I have.
Never had chicken fried steak…
