I don’t see a problem with it, unless you have some special circumstance at home where it could get messed up or something.  I had my dress at home, hanging in the closet, for months before I took if to my first fitting a couple weeks ago.  I liked having it at home, that way I could look at it whenever I wanted, and it does help with picking out accessories and whatnot.

I don’t see an issue with it as long, as the store does allow you to bring it back for your fitting and steaming. The store were I bought mine does free steaming and does the fitting when you come in, but if you take it with you and don’t let them hold it till a week before the wedding (unless you are getting alterations) they will not give you the free steaming and will not allow you to bring it back to hold till a week before the wedding. Just make sure you don’t let your Fiance see it, you care about that, and don’t drag it on dirt, and I think you should be fine. =]

Nope, not a problem!  My dress has been hanging in my closet since March and it’s perfectly fine in it’s garment bag.  Just make sure it’s out of reach of dogs or kitties, in a bag, and not near a window!  The only problem I have had is with wanting to put it on all the time!
