I agree with pp, it’s gorgeous and something like that second setting would look gorgeous! True it’s not as big as the stone in the picture, but you’re the only person who will ever know you’d imagined something different.

spendabuck85 :  Oh my gosh! BEAUTIFUL stone!! I love the color and the shape. I think it would look beautiful in any of the settings you posted and are considering. Personally, I’m with previous posters in that I love the second setting the best. It is unique, and I like the way the sidestones sit next to the center stone.

If you wanted a halo look but were afraid of emphasizing that your sapphire is small (although I think your stone is a great size!), the second setting might be a great choice. It conveys the idea of a halo without closing in on the center stone. (hope this makes sense.)

With that said, I think your sapphire would look amazing in the first and third settings, too. It would be a little bit of fiery, bold gorgeousness in the midst of some beautiful sparkle. *.*
