A good Crossfit program will have a program for beginners.  They will scale the workout so that you get the most out of it (you will be sore, you will be tired and you will be pushed) but you won’t burn out. 


You can only bulk up if you want to bulk up.  You will gain muscle and you will look the best that you can but if you don’t eat right it won’t matter. 

I do crossfit and did it through my entire pregnancy (up till my due date and 2 weeks before his birth).  I also teach crossfit to ages 3 – 5 year old.  I love it.
