@His Barista: I LOVE Firefly and Serenity! Just watched Serenity last night actually. Good choice!  I was so mad when the show got cancelled!

I also have a $200 limit with my bf.  He’s so hard to shop for, and whenever I ask if he wants anything, he says no. sigh.  He’s from FL and has never left the state, but we’re going up to Boston for Christmas at my family’s house, so I bought him a winter jacket on sale at Old Navy for $50.  He’ll only be needing it for 10 days so I didn’t want to splurge on a jacket.  I also got him a pair of jeans and a few button up shirts for work.. also on sale at Old Navy for $50 total.  So I still have $100 left.  He wants a video game.. Assassin’s Creed 2.. that’s $60, so once I get that, I’ll have $40 left.  I feel so “blah” about everything I’m getting him because nothing seems really special, but it’s so hard to think of something!

Oh, and whoever mentioned the valet thingy-thanks! I’m going to get one for my brother!

@boston bee-I didn’t like serenity. It didn’t feel anything like Firefly to me, and it wasn’t as funny. I just hope he’ll be excited about getting it for himeself!

I still need to think of one or two other things to get him. We didn’t really set Caps.

Im in the same boat as some of you. bday is close to Christmas. Mr Z is turning 30 11/20 so I think I’m going to take him to a very nice restruant for the big 30, then a little party with friends. For Christmas almost a month later I love the watch idea!!

I don’t know how romantic you are, but you could always do a one-night get-away…like at a bed and breakfast that isn’t too far away, but allows you to get some needed alone time! My other sure fire gift is a set of tickets to a sporting event!

I am getting him a few things

1)making him a fleece blanket

2)buying him a movie or two he’d like and that have meaning/jokes to us

3) a KINDLE 🙂 that is the best part that I’m most excited about!!!

it will cost $260 but he would NEVER ask for it/buy it for himself and I know he’d just LOVE it!

EJS, sounds like you’ve got a bit of a plan but I totally know what you mean with Fiance not liking the “typical” things. One thing that has worked well for me in the past has been a weekend away. I picked a place he mentioned he wanted to visit and then forgot about and gave hi the option of one night in a nice hotel or 2 nights in an okay hotel. I also thinkn you can’t lose by giving him what he wants 😉 you actually gave me an idea with that one, maybe a coupon book for his stocking. Since he is moving home, maybe something that he will need around the house like his own book shelf or some fun glasses or even coupons for dinner in cooked (or ordered) by you.

We’re taking the easy way out and buying each other’s wedding rings this year.

@ejs4y8 – If you really want to get him a watch, check http://www.slickdeals.net for coupon codes and deals. I love that site. You can also set “deal alerts” with keywords so they will e-mail you when a relevant deal or coupon comes up.

i wish i could help but i struggle with this every single christmas and birthday [thankfully valentine’s day and our anniversary lets me get away with sappy stuff. hehe]. he has tons of clothes and the only other thing he’s into, computers, is way over my head so i leave that to him. that and he tends to pick up things on his own.

this christmas i’m getting him a starbucks gift card because he’s there working practically every other day!

I’m in the same boat with my hubby!  For some of you, maybe you guy would want tools of some sort?  I know that’s what my hubby wanted for a couple years in a row, but between myself, our families, and him splurging every now and then, we have quite the tool collection now.  So, now I need another idea…
