I would assume they have a registry, no? Have you checked (or was it referenced on the website/invite)? I would give something off the registry unless they don’t have one. And even then, I’d check to see if the shower has a theme and buy something that coincides with that (like kitchen-stuff, etc.)

A few co-ed gifts that come to mind off-hand:

-His/Her Bath Towels
-Outdoor Cookware Stuff (BBQ Kit, etc.)
-Bar Accessories (cocktail mixes, martini glasses, etc.)

Gift cards – pick one up via a discount site or using credit card/store points

Registry items

board games; lawn games; camping gear

nice, custom luggage tags

alcohol or wine

“date night” pasta dinner set.  just buy some more-expensive-than-average dry pasta, pesto, noodles, garlic butter, cheap bottle of wine.  you could do the same with sushi stuff and rolling mats, or a thai/asian themed dinner.  Use a colander as a basket, or considering stealing the one from their house to gift back to them, so they don’t have unnecessary duplicates.

make them a local “scanvenger hunt” date night.
