I’ve gotten a lot of “it’s not necessary to hang anything” or “that’s too much work for one day” BUT I bought 200 yards of tulle and am planning on hanging that from the ceiling along with some string lights ๐Ÿ™‚ My venue’s ceiling has those ugly foam files though so to me it’s necessary ๐Ÿ˜›

Your venue looks so nice with the wood and beams! Maybe the lights is all it needs?

Depends on the theme you’re going for.  If you’re looking for something more rustic, I’d probably do some fabric bunting and keep the look of the wooden ceiling.  Tulle and more string lights like the PP mentioned would give a classic reception look.  For something more modern, you could try paper lanterns in colors to complement your decor.

@MiraJo:  This actually looks really easy to duplicate using normal sticks and hot glue… I say DIY!  And I LOVE mixing the lanterns with the christmas lights!

@MiraJo:  I responded to your other post.

If you like the look of branches, you shoudl be able to get them free. Phone up the arborists and landscaping firms in your are and ask if you can have pruned branches or trees they are removing.

You can hang them parallel to the floor with strong fishing line.

you can even spray paint them if you want

@MiraJo:  This is really pretty!  And you can probably DIY them if you have the basic ingredients.  Branches are free if you have access to a wooded backyard.  String lights can be picked up pretty inexpensively or reused from Christmas decor if you have white string lights.  And the lanterns can be bought in bulk from a place like Luna Bazaar.

@MiraJo:  I don’t know a specific DIY tutorial, but from the picture it looks like there is a center cable/string to support the weight.  If I had to guess, this is how I think it’s constructed:

  1. Get a piece of rope the length of the room
  2. Wrap branches around the rope.  Vines might be better to use because they’re a little more flexible.  Since they’re ceiling decor and you don’t want them to fall down, I’d do a combo of hot gluing and tying branches together with twine.
  3. Wrap lights around the branches
  4. Hang lanterns off of the attached rope and branches
  5. Hang up the rope in the room

Hope this helps ๐Ÿ™‚
