Nice dinner in a private room at a local restaurant then off to a local club for dancing afterwards to celebrate.

@mrsedwardslpn:  We are going to a  nice steakhouse for dinner after our reception. The food is fantastic and they dont charge to cut or serve the cake. The restaurant has a private room for us and the only thing is we need to reach a food miminum for the room. It was a 2k minimum but we moved to a bigger room for $2500. We are so so excited. This is what our reception will look like.

i

I thought I would post the room we switched to. The first room was smaller than this. We are going to do 5 round tables instead of the V thing.

If you’d like to just do a nice quiet dinner, seriously go Olive Garden. IDK about yours, but ours has a private dining room in the back, that’ll hold probably 60 people just at their well spaced tables, and you could use the extra tables for cake/gift and a little guest sign in(think photo frame, with just a few people). For $12-$18/pp, you’ve got a fully catered meal 🙂 You could probably also use an IPod/IHome, and even have background music, for a little atmosphere.

Without alcohol, it costs me and FH about $30 just in entrees and our salad, so we usually spend about $40 with regular sodas and tax/tip. So, Say 20/pp, that’s only about $225-350 which isn’t bad in my opinion at all. I’m actually using them to take my girls to lunch after we get cleaned up from our obstacle course. I’m cheating though, b/c they always do the unlimited soup/salad/pasta bread sticks for $10, so for $120 we can all hang around and bs and I can give them their gifts(vice versa if applicable, it’s a “half shower” of sorts, LOL).

FYI-You do NOT “HAVE” to do ANYTHING. People these days take receptions SO FAR OUT OF PROPORTION, that they either don’t know what it actually means, or they feel pressured to put on some huge affair. Many brides have weddings they don’t want, b/c of guest pressure. Hence, elopements 🙂

@mrsedwardslpn:  well, the place we picked starts at ~$90 a plate so we wont have any trouble reaching the minimum. 🙂 My friend is getting married early next month and they are having their reception at a Mexican restaurant with a priave room too. Theirs is much cheaper ~$15 a plate with no minimum so you can control your price for sure!

@cheetah2b:  Personally, I find Olive Garden food unedible. If she has only 10-15 guests I would do something with better food

We went to a restaurant (we had 11 people). We were originally going to go with a private room in a restaurant, but there was a $2000 minimum which meant that even choosing the most expensive food options, we’d be spending over $800 on booze, which wasn’t possible. Instead we made a reservation at another restaurant without a minimum (no private room option) and spent about $800 in all.

Plenty of restaurants do private dining for events and you can find per person rates for a pre-fixe menu ranging from $25 to $150+. Some will have a separate room charge where others just have a food & drink minimum you’ll need to meet. We could have done it cheaper if we wanted to, or more expensive, but what we paid was well within our comfort zone.

@beachbride1216:  That’s basically my wedding! But with a luncheon instead of dinner, and we’re renting a limo to take us out dancing!
