Hi Bees! Our small civil wedding is coming up on the 28th (whee!) and I have a few family members coming in from out of town. I’d like to do some small gift bags for everyone, which is 6 adults and 1 toddler. I have a few ideas but I’d love to hear more, especially since I’m not from the area. Here’s what I’m thinking for the adults:
- 1-Day CTA pass (to get everyone to the ceremony site)
- Chicago map
- Fancy soap
For the little one:
- Activity book
- Bubble bath
What else? Thanks bees!

We went to a wedding in Chicago in October and they had all sorts of local goodies in the bags…jelly belly jellybeans, wrigley gum, some chocolates from a famous Chicago bakery along with a note outlining some really great eateries.

Talk to someone at the city’s tourism bureau – see if they have any freebies to share (bumper stickers, buttons) in addition to maps and guidebooks.

I was thinking of putting in some water bottles, garret cheese popcorn, a welcome letter/itinerary, and stuff mentioned above as well!

I love the Wrigley’s gum idea and the Garret cheese popcorn!
If you’ve got drinkers, Goose Island brewery is local and quite good. You can find their bottled beers in supermarkets, I think.

Thanks for your suggestions, everyone! I love the Garrett’s popcorn idea, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get to one of their stores in the next week. I was also thinking of those mini Vosges candy bars (bacon chocolate!) but those are kind of expensive…
@BothCoasts: I love Goose Island beer – Matilda is my fave. I’m planning to have everyone over for pizza (deep dish) at our apartment instead of a “rehearsal dinner” so I’ll definitely have to get some local brews for that.
@ProfessorGirl: That’s a great idea. I probably won’t make it to the Chicago tourism bureau downtown, but I can definitely check out the one in our quaint little suburb.

Like others, we tried to include Chicago snacks. We put in Wrigley gum, Quaker granola bars, Garrett’s popcorn and my fave, Frango mints. Other inclusions were Chicago postcards, free maps (from local hotels and the Cultural Center), a mini Chicago flag, and personalized water bottles. I calligraphied a map of the city and put it on folders filled with the paper goods, local recommendations and a letter from us.

The Garrett’s popcorn always makes me laugh cause honestly its all tourist that eat it. haha.
We are planning on doing Frango’s(they come in a box of 40 individually warpped if the 4 piece box is too pricey), Jay’s potato chips, 312 beer, this water that is in a plant based bottled made by a Chi company(the name escapes me) a few maps and a note from Fiance and me.
Keep the ideas coming!

Just wanted to say thanks for this board. Our wedding theme is “Vintage Chicago at night” and this gave me a TON of inspiration.

So I just found out they stopped making Jay’s in Chicago in 1997 so that’s out! But here is a list of some major brands made in Chicago. Go crazy!
