@SoontobeMsL:I would also consider maybe registering at Target for the prices and variety. Everyone may not have a Macy’s or BBB near.

We didn’t have a problem with people getting to a Bed Bath and Beyond.  Plus, you can get things online from there which makes it easy for people to purchase them and send to you before the wedding.

As for what to register for, I don’t have a complete list since we already owned a house before but here is what I can think of:

– sheets

– towels

– drinking glasses

– dishes

– silverware

– cooking pots

– knives

– crockpot (amazing, get one!)

Think about things that you’ll need for years. We live together and already had some nice things between the 2 of us, but we focused on china, glassware, major appliances and nice bedding. We’re going to go back and fill it in with some smaller items for people who don’t want to spend so much on a gift, but we don’t want to register for too many things that we could easily get for ourselves. For example, I registered for a $40 crystal vase because I really want one for dinner parties, but I would probably never buy one for myself and it wasn’t too expensive but still a nice gift.

We also plan to register for a set of luggage since we don’t have any and will probably be taking the majority of our trips together from now on.

@SoontobeMsL: I now live in the burbs and everything seems so far away to me if I have to drive to the city. You will always love and use a nice set of silverware and cookware.

GOOD KNIVES! It really makes a difference! Go with brands like Shun or Wusthof.

Macy’s will actually give you a list of what you should register and how many of each item.
