I am getting married at the courthouse and having a reception that evening. I’m going to have pictures taken at the ceremony and at the reception, so I’m getting flowers and I want us to be dressed like a bride and groom. Will I look silly going to the courthouse in a bridal gown, even a simple one? And what should he wear?

You are only going to be married once, so make sure you wear what you want. I don’t see any problem with wearing the dress to the ceremony; if you have the funds, you can do the popular two-dress wedding. I have seen amazing dresses donated to my local Salvation Army.
As far as your FH, a nice suit would be fine, unless you are attached to the tuxedo idea.
Best of luck!

No, you wear whatever you want, it won’t look silly at all but if you are in a wedding dress he should probably at least wear a nice suit. Actually when I went to go pick up my marriage license I saw someone in her wedding dress waiting to get married.

Thank you all! I feel much better about dressing up the way I want to. Thank you, mrs bee, I didn’t really want a short dress, but the pictures gave me second thoughts.

Dolly Couture has a ton of cute, short, yet formal wedding dresses that would be perfect.
