What’s the formality of the place you’re getting married in, or how formal do you want the event to be? There are a lot of beautiful day and evening dresses out there as well as pantsuits.

You should wear whatever makes you feel beautiful, whether it’s pantsuit, vintage inspired red floral dress, or a little black dress.  I think everyone deserves to feel fabulous and beautiful on their big day Smile

Wear whatever color you want!  Lots of women wear non-white dresses–myself included.  Head over to offbeatbride.com and join the tribe–you’ll get tons of ideas!

For the present, check out bridesmaids dresses–David’s Bridal and Alfred Angelo have a good plus sized selection.  They also tend to have a lot of plus sized samples so you can try things on in real life and get a feel for what makes you feel gorgeous.

Also dressilyme.com sells knockoffs for very cheap–you can send in your measurements and they have a huge gallery of dresses that they can make.  They are bad at designing things but they are good at replicating and are also good at combining 2 dresses together.

How about a suit? If you can pull it off, and it makes you feel more comfortable do it! Where whatever you want, its your day!

If you want to wear a dress, but don’t want a wedding dress, then look for a dress that isn’t a wedding dress.  You could look at things like bridesmaids’ dresses, evening dresses, cocktail dresses, etc.  There is no law that says a dress for a wedding has to be what some bridal store defines as a “wedding” dress.

Congrats on your engagement/ big day! How about a tea lenght dress? Like a 50’s dress, that would look gorgeous on a plus size bride, and it doesn’t have to be too bride-y… Let us know what you choose in the end!

Open yourself up to any possibility (stop thinking “wedding dress”) and just go DRESS shopping! Try on everything, see what you like. I think you’ll find something that makes you happy!
