This actually isn’t a question about my own wedding, but about another wedding I have been invited to.
My fiance’s cousin is getting married here in Canada at the end of the month (his bride is moving up here from the States). They are having a very small, intimate (immediately family only) ceremony and then extended family has been invited to the reception…from 11 am to 3 pm…on a Friday.
The cousin has repeatedly said that it will be a very casual affair…so my question is: what do I wear?
Thanks for your input!

I would wear something nice but not formal. You said it’s in Canada in January, so I would go with perhaps a cute sweater and skirt with tights and ankle boots, or perhaps a long-sleeved dress with tights. You can be casual and still look cute (and be warm!). I would stay away from anything that strikes you as cocktail attire, but I would also try to stay away from anything TOO casual like jeans. She said is a casual event, but it’s still a wedding!

I agree with the above, good advice! You could always pop a spare top or pair of shoes in your bag to dress up/down once you’re there if it makes you feel more comfortable

I would wear tights and a cute sweater dress plus ankle boots. Be classy, comfortable and warm without being over or under dressed.
otherwise I would just ask what they want people to wear some people’s versions of casual are different to others

Since the cousin has mentioned several times that it’s very casual (I suppose he’s emphasizing the “very”, something like this would be appropriate (all from Boutique 1861’s line La Petite Garçonne, except the earrings, which are from COS):
