Defintely wear matching colors. It honestly makes for the best pictures (I’m a photographer talking from experience). For example, wear a green dress and find your FH a green shirt the same or almost the same color, and jeans or slacks. Your clothing should definitely reflect your personalities, so if your FH lives in a certain t-shirt, have him wear that and find a dress or shirt that matches. If he bought you a necklace that you love, wear that. If your save the date pictures are serving as your engagement pictures, then it’s usually best to have at least one change of clothing, and that usually means a dressier option and then a more casual option. For example, for my engagement pictures I wore a cream lacey dress with my wedding shoes (blush high heels) and FH wore a cream button down shirt and khaki slacks. Then I changed into a green dress that he bought for me and my cowboy boots, and he changed into a green button down and jeans. For JUST a save the date shoot, I’d stick with something pretty casual. If you aren’t a dress person, wear some nice shorts or jeans with a shirt in a similar color to your FH’s shirt. The possibilities are endless of course but it’s pretty important to MATCH because those pictures are the most eye-appealing, the ones you’ll be able to design an awesome save the date or invitation around, and maybe one day the pictures you’ll want to hang on your wall!
