I would say that you should wear something that you’ll be comfortable in.  Trekking around in uncomfortable heels will make the experience memorable for the wrong reasons!

We didn’t do our engagement photos until well into our planning, so we already had a theme for the wedding.  We used the engagement photos to reflect that theme… but I don’t think many people do it that way.  I wore a 1950’s dress and a bright red pillbox type hat with feathers and he wore a black fedora… but we were definitely going for a concept shoot.

I’ve heard that you should wear a relatively monochromatic solid color that flatters your figure, and you could consider bringing a change of clothes. I’ve seen a lot of people with one set of pics in jeans and then a slightly fancier cute but casual dress. Make sure that you and your fiance don’t clash when you’re picking stuff out to wear:)

How long will you have the photographer? Honestly, I wore something uncomfortable and brought Uggs to change into, because it was worth it to me to have the right look in the photos. However, we only shot for about 2 hours. If it’s an all-day thing, I’d bring a couple of outfits- dressy, casual, maybe something sort of gimmicky.

i think vibrant colors look great in photos.  i wore a black dress for my "city" pictures and i wish i would have worn more color!

I’m trying to figure out my outfit too.  I want the clothes not to seem trendy or out of date when I look at them in a few years.  I’m leaning towards color but I’m not sure.

You definitely want to coordinate with the Fiance and choose a few outfits. Do you already have locations in mind? I’d suggestion thinking about what personality you want to convey in your pictures – dressy, casual, eccletic, etc. Small patterns are okay but I wouldn’t recommend anything too busy, especially if you’re background is something colorful like a field of flowers. Check out other people’s photos if you can and maybe it’ll help with ideas.

I wore a white peacoat, jeans, black & white polka dot scarf, and ice skates. Fi wore jeans + black peacoat. Our e-shoot was at an ice rink w/ really pretty coloured lights behind us so the vibrancy was still there. 🙂  I def. support the recommendations to dress comfy!
