What about a summery red dress? It wou;d be feminine and festive withour being too formal. I’ve seen lots of dresses like that out at the stores lately.

I wore a dress with dressy flip flops for DH’s Navy boot camp graduation last summer.  What uniform will he be wearing?  The uniform generally gives a guideline for how dressy the event is.

You don’t need anything formal like a bridesmaids dress, but more like something you might wear to a wedding as a guest would be most appropriate.  Honestly, it’s best to be slightly overdressed than slightly underdressed at military functions, because being underdressed looks bad as a spouse.  Also, make sure everything is covered, and don’t let anything hang out you wouldn’t want his superiors to be talking about later… ๐Ÿ˜‰

What about something like this from Target?  Sorry the picture has ‘zoom’ across it!  It wouldn’t go away when I took a screen shot!

OHH gosh I’m going to face this dilemma soon! but it will be winter :/

For you I’d go with a summer dress like PPs have said and maybe flats to keep it on the more casual side? something knee length, not too short.

I think the cute red dress suggestions might be right on target! Your husband has probably mentioned, but Parris Island has a reputation for being very humid, I don’t personally know if that’s the case, but it probably is, so keep that in mind. Congrats!

@Miss Fish:  What about something like this?

I love this shirt (I have it hehe!) from Target.  Very flattering and it works well by itself or with a little sweater/cardigan over it too.
Or maybe something like this from Charlotte Russe?
This shirt is also from Target and i think it’s adorable too.  Maybe with a really light cardigan  on top?

I think something like that paired with khaki capris or Bermuda shorts would be perfect for Family Day.  I wouldn’t do regular shorts, honestly.  I would save the dress for graduation like you said.  DH didn’t get a Family Day, so the first time I saw him was at his graduation, and I totally understand you wanting to wow him!  He will wow you too… ๐Ÿ™‚

I would also recommend bringing a pack of gum or mints, tissues, and keep them in your purse.  They came in handy!

I would vote a day time dress and a sweater if you want to cover up. Wear something you absolutely love- you’ll be getting your photo taken with him and will keep them forever. One of my biggest regrets is we didn’t get a photo together when my husband graduated :

@Miss Fish:  SUPER cute!! ๐Ÿ™‚  The main thing is to find something that makes you feel stunning.  He won’t care about the color.  I am convinced all men are color blind. ๐Ÿ˜‰

@Miss Fish:  I love that photo! I still have a poster of it on the wall of my room in my mother’s house.

For FIs OCS graduation it was winter in RI. I wore nice jeans, a sweater and my coat, since it was freezing. I love the dress you posted! That would definitely suit either family day or the graduation.

Are they doing a dinner for family day? Fiance had a formal “Hi, Moms” dinner and I wore a fancier dress for that since everyone was in dress uniform.

When I went to see my friends graduate, I just wore a cute little sundress.  I think the one you posted is perfect!
