Fiance are eloping in seaside Maine this upcoming June. We are having photos, an evening ceremony, and then dinner served in our suite (possibly on the balcony and potentially after dark.) I imagine that I will want something nice to wear over my gown, but I haven’t found anything thus far. I was thinking a cardigan, but since it will be June would that be weird? Is there a different idea that I’m not thinking of that would look fancy enough? I want it to be able to actually provide some warmth, but still be summer and bridal appropriate. For colors, my bouquet will have blush and coral tones and Fiance may be in a grey, navy, or black suit.
This is my dress:

Thank you for the suggestions. Do you think the first and third would provide actual warmth?

I got engaged in Maine the 2nd to last day in May on a hotel balcony! Your plan to have dinner on the balcony sounds amazing! I do know that it does get chilly, especially closer to the water, so you want to make sure you have something to keep you warm.

Or you could use Rent the Runway:

I just ordered a hand knit shawl from etsy to wear with my dress. There are tons options on etsy, I think a really gorgeous detailed shawl would look great, or even a pashmina scarf would be very elegant with your dress.

I would wear a white or blush angora short cardigan . I think the lacy or crocheted ones tend to look a bit bed jackety. And shawls can look a bit , well, dowdy.
That beautiful dress warrants something really nice .

I immediately thought of an angora cardigan as well. It would look really nice with that dress, as demonstrated by the Duchess of Cambridge who wore a similar dress with an angora cardigan for her evening wedding festivities.

I think this is lovely but would it not look odd in June? I always think of her look but wrote it off simply because I assumed it was more of a cold weather accessory.

I got married in October and did an outdoor ceremony. It was quite cold the day of our wedding so I found a beautiful navy velvet blazer that I wore with my dress before and after the ceremony…and for a few pictures because I loved the look and is really was freezing.
Here’s snapshot my sister got when we did pictures.

Sounds like you’ve never been in the UK in April…Maine in summer it is not! 😉
