Honestly, I would probably do the sundress and flats. If you are really unsure you can send the bride an e-mail or maybe ask another guest what they are wearing.

i was wondering the same – i have a friend who is marrying in a private ceremony in april and we are invited to the backyard party after…she is wearing a regular wedding dress but they are very quirky – i think he will be wearing a tuxedo tshirt haha.

i bought this really cute sundress in jamaica while on my honeymoon – thinking of wearing that.

I’m having a backyard wedding!

Sundress and sandals should be fine, esp. if the bride is wearing a short dress.  If it’s an evening wedding you might bring a cardigan or wrap both for practical reasons (it could get chilly) and to dress it up a bit. You can use jewelry for the same effect.

Sundress and espadrilles would be perfect. Black dress if it’s a casual one but not like you wear to a fancy dinner fancy.
