I think that it’s fine for a viewing/wake, but for a funeral, you should be dressed a little more formal and definitely not teal.  I personally only wear black/grey to both funerals and viewings, but people do generally understand when you’re coming straight from work.  If you had the time, maybe swing home and get a black cardigan and darker shoes, but if there’s no time, I’d just go with what you’re wearing.  The important thing is that you’re going to be there for your friend.

Viewings are less formal. You should be fine.

and no one is going to be concerned about your outfit.  They will just be grateful for your support – that’s really what it’s all about.

I think what you described is fine for a viewing. For the funeral, I’d dress a little more formal. I’m really sorry for your loss and honestly, your support means a million times more than what you’re wearing.
