I’d wear something you could wear with some cute flat tall boots. Maybe a wrap dress or a sweater dress.

MeiFrancis:  I find the boot look a bit informal so–cocktail dress, wedges, and bring an umbrella? I’d probably avoid wearing a rain jacket, but would bring a nice coat if it’s cold in your area.

I don’t see how an outside wedding celebration in the rain could possibly be conducted without a tent.

I attended a wedding a few weeks ago that was outdoors and in the rain. Because I knew that it was going to be a very messy muddy affair I wore a black 3/4 sleeve wrap dress and my hunter gloss boots.  The bride came up to me and whispered in my ear that not only did she love my boots but she wished that people would have followed my lead and worn something that was appropriate for the situation rather than complaining that their feet were wet, cold and muddy. It wasn’t the classiest or cutest outfit I’ve ever worn but it worked.
