I’m going shopping for my wedding day undergarments tomorrow. My dress is a strapless a-line (borderline ball gown) with a sweetheart neckline. I’m not a super tiny girl, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for the best day-of undergarments out there. I’m thinking bustier, but I honestly have no clue. help!

Alot of strapless bra will show on the sides of a wedding dress. Take good measurements of where the dress strapless line is. For mine I had the cups sewn into the dress so I didn’t have to worry about going through 15 bras to find the right one to work with my dress. Randy from SYTTD said on his blog that you should by the bra first and find the dress to go with it or have them sewn in, it actually made sense. That is why I had mine put in.

here’s a trick for those who have their dress, but not their bra: put your dress on and draw a line on your skin with a pen a few centimetres below the neckline, back and sides, all the way around your upper torso. this way you can go bra shopping and know that you won’t choose a bra/bustier that will be visable above the line of your dress.
i chose a bustier with straps. it gives my bust a great shape and smooths and tightens me up nicely in all the jiggly areas. trust the ladies at the lingerie stores – they know what they are doing. and leave your modesty at the door 🙂

I had a strapless sweetheart neckline dress. It was snug enough on top that I didn’t need a bra (and I’m a d cup, so not tiny). Is it possible to alter your dress to the point where you don’t need a bra? Otherwise, it can be tricky to find something that fits and doesn’t show anywhere (especially if your dress has a slight v-back, that dips below the point a normal bra would sit on your back).
I just wore regular underwear, and spanx that were kind of like bike shorts to keep my lower half sleek under the dress.

@tksjewelry: Do you know if they can sew in push-up cups? Haha I’m a smaller chester girl and hope to have mine sewn in!
