I am not sure what to wear under my dress. I bought this dress because it is light, soft and flowly but still has the structured bodice, the dress itself is only three layers (satin chiffon, crinoline and a buffer layer between me and the crinoline), with the train being a single layer of satin chiffon.
Do I need to get a slip or petticoat or what have you, I like the fact that the dress is so light and I really don’t want to add more to it if I don’t have to. The dress is not see through at all and I really don’t want to spend more money then I already have since I still need a few alterations.
Also I don’t know what to wear for undergarments, I am sure I could pull off braless without a problem, I am a 36C , but am not sure about the bottoms as I am not a skirt person at all. I have a bit of a love handle issue so don’t want to have the muffin top look that happens with a lot of underwear, but I wont have much help with my dress so the thought of being stuck in shapewear freaks me out but I might be my only option and I am sure would smooth everything out for me. If I go with shapewear, I was thinking of this one here:
What do you think? Any Suggestions. I am such a tomboy, all this dressy stuff is so stressful for me.

I’m not sure you can tell until you really have the dress… Maybe when it arrives (I’m assuming it hasn’t yet?) and you go for your first fitting, just bring a strapless bra, maybe some spanx, a couple different kinds of underwear (to make sure you don’t get any lines.) maybe a slip? Then just try it on and see what you need!

I already have the dress, I purchased it at a second hand store, I have no idea where I am going to take it to get fitted at this point but thats another story. The problem is that I don’t own any shapewear, I don’t own a slip (don’t even know where to buy one) and I only have basic T-Shirt Bras and underwear, none of which will work for this dress. Hence the dilemma, I can’t afford to buy stuff just to try it out. I also have nobody to help me try on my dress until I take it to get fitted so I am stuck. Lame.

You can buy a slip at any lingerie store or probably in a department store lingerie department. I’d consider some kind of light shapewear under, even if it’s just a fitted-to-the-thigh tummy-sucker-inner-thing, to avoid any muffin top issues.
If you have cups sewn in, you can probably go bra-less. Ask your seamstress about it.

I would go with shapeware, or bare….what a surprise when he goes for that garter!
