    @eocenia:  Not sure. I asked him what he wanted and i told him I wanted our initials and wedding date in his ring and I guess that sparked an idea of his own.  His dad passed away almost 5 years ago a few months after we began dating and he wants to honor him and his mom.  So its like he will always have the three most important people in his life with him…..kinda 🙂

    @eocenia:

    You know, I think in a case like this, tradition probable matters most.

    I hadn’t even really thought of what to put in wedding bands.  We haven’t ordered ours yet.  My engegement ring doesn’t have any lettering in it — we talked about the possibility of putting something in there, but never came up with any text that seemed important.

    In your case, you obviously have a preference based on your engagement ring.  Are you following a pattern set by your parents and grandparents?  I always thought connections like that would be important, though in practice I seem not to care as much as I thought I would when I was younger.

    @jesssamesssa:  I’m not sure how I feel about the idea of including parents’ initials in a ring.  Seems a little odd to me.

    Personally, I’d push back gently on something like that.  I mean, I don’t want to judge, to each their own, and it wouldn’t be a deal breaker or anything, but … isn’t this event about just the two of you, and what you share?

    @H0LLY:  I dont mind.  No one will see the inside of his ring.  He can have whatever he wants.  He will actually have two rings. That one and one my grandfather is making for him from white gold.  That will be his nice ring and the other will be his work ring since it will be made from tungsten.

    first, congrats (pls excuse the lack of caps or punctuation as FI and i just spent 9 hours in the blazing 91deg heat, fml)

    per your question, OP, how about initials of both plus wedding date plus coordinates of wedding location?  or, initials and coordinates of proposal location (or first date) and the final wedding location?  yes, i’m strange with my ideas, but i’ve always looked at things differently.  anyway, my FI and i are also working out inscriptions so i feel your conundrum.  people think it’s an easy detail to settle on and, no, it’s not.

    I love the idea off adding the location and date!  We are engraving ATS… In ours.  It stands for and then some.  My daughter (6) has always told people she loves them ‘all the way’.  Which we shortened to ATW in texts.  Over the months/years we’ve started joking that we loved reach other all the way and then some.  So that is what is going in our bands.

    @eocenia:  yeah I think it is.  He doesnt really see it that way.  He isnt nearly as sentimental as I am.  I wish my grandfather could make the ring I wanted with the diamonds. I would cherish it forever!!
