A group of my friends all pitched in and got us a Kitchen Aid mixer. This is also what DH’s family got us though. If it were 2 toasters i wouldn’t worry about it but it would be a huge waste to keep both so we asked my friend if she was happy for us to exchange it given the situation and she was. what do I write in the thank you cards to all my friends now though? Usually you would reference the gift…these are all very close friends who will either be told by the friend who organised the gift what’s happened or are at our house regularly. do we say what we exchanged it for?

Haha no don’t say you exchanged it! I would just say what I would say if I kept it, since you did keep one of them. They will never know. Thanks so much for the wonderful gift, we wil bake so many cakes, blah blah.

Was it for you wedding? You could say something like: thank you so much for your generous gift and celebrating our special day with us. We Had a blast dancing the night away (or another activity) with you.

RunnerBride13: they will definitely know, the other friend I’m sure will mention it to someone plus if they ask me about it I’m not going to lie… But that’s good to know I can just out how generous their gift was and not worry about saying what we did with it!

Just thank them for their generousity and thoughtfulness, no need to mention the exchange.
