I am a bit lost and in need of advice… Here where I live (Germany) erings are not at all common or traditional. As a matter of fact I do not know anybody who has one except if they are foreigners. What I know and I am used to is simple wedding bands… 2 coloured at the most! But my Fiance proposed with an engagement ring. It is white gold solitaire with a 0.1 diamond. I absolutely love its simplicity and it is so perfectly me. I have never worn rings in my life and this is all very new to me. I have been looking at wedding bands and now that I have to actually wear it with an ering I have no idea what to go for. It shouldnt be too wide or I will be uncomfortable I imagine? Any suggestions? Attaching a picture of the e-ring below.

Congratulations on your engagement, your ring is beautiful ๐ I understand where you’re coming from since our cultures are pretty similar, also when it comes to engagement rings (I’m from Denmark), but I really think you should go out and try different bands and see what you like. Since your ring has a tapered band, you could do a similar shape wedding band if you want it to match but I actually think I would go with a very simple pavé diamond band – maybe 1,5-2 mm. I think it would compliment your ring beautifully ๐

My engagement ring is similar to your but mines has a deeper V towards the stone. There are wedding bands that will go perfectly with your ring. Perhaps looking at a tapered wedding band or chevron band. Or you could always have a custom made wedding band…

I love your engagement ring so much! I think a lot of bands will look great with it. It’s a matter of what feel you’re going for. You could keep it very classic with a simple band as well. You could go more modern and pair it with a more intricate wedding band with engravings or diamonds too. I would just go to stores and see what looks good on and how it makes you two feel!

SophBee : Thank you, I really love it! Tapered band! Is that what it is called? I had no clue! I am just thinking if it is a plain band there will be a little gap where the diamond isand that may look strange? Ive always imagined wearing a platinum 2 to 3 mm band (type the One ring, have no idea what that shape is called) but I think platinum is a bit different colour than white gold so I should go with a white gold band I think. Fiance bought the ring from Christ and said we should also buy the bands there. The lady told him they have “matching” bands but I have been looking on their site and cant figure out which ones those are. I think we wont make it to the shop before mid December or next year January but I am so very excited I cant stop looking at bands!

Eirene00 : thank you! Off to google chevron band since this is the first time I hear about them (also English is not my native tongue so that doesnt help with terminology:-D) What band did you chose with your ering?

fl0werbee : Thank you! I think I may be leaning towards a more bling-y band now but not sure if it will not look weird with my ering. Somewhat out of place iykwim

Congrats, & beautiful ring! I personally would go with a thin 2mm pave half-eternity band. I’m also probably biased, because that’s the wedding band I chose ๐

By The Way Is there a rule where the band goes under or above the ering?

cherrymyst : My e-ring is a cluster marquise cut with solid gold tapered band. So it has a very plain look to it ..that’s why I want a band that is blinged out too. I recently went to a jewerly store to try out different bands like the one you showed in that picture. The only thing I didn’t like was the little gap…it made the whole set look off. So chevron wedding band is going to be the best option. Custom made would be perfect but the prices can be as steep as the engagement with just a regular band.

Eirene00 : so as I understand it chevron bands have a little “peak” that would fill the gap?

I think a plain band the same width and profile as your ering would be lovely. I worry about the durability of pave or small stones in wedding bands that are forever. Plus plain with a solitaire is ultra classy.

cherrymyst : I think a platinum or white gold band would look gorgeous as well! It’s really a matter of preference. You could also do both a pavé band and a plain? The sky is the limit! ๐
