I’m not sure what you mean by type?

I’ve been to lots of showers that are really casual, like lots of people getting together at someone’s house for snacks and opening gifts. (I think it’s a thing in my group of friends. I’ve never really seen something like that elsewhere.) FI’s mom threw me one, and my sister/grandma are hosting another one for me, and they are both going to involve a sit-down meal at a nice restaurant. Way more expensive, but I’m not paying and I had a great time at the last one!

ETA: oh, ok. Well it depends what sort of stuff you need. I don’t have a ton of housewares stuff, so we just registered for china and stuff at BB&B, so that’s what our showers are for. I think that’s what most people do unless you have a reason to do something different…

Mine was a “lefeys favorite things” a buffet of all my favorite foods. There was soooooo much food!

Oh I get it now. I just got stuff off the registry. Except for a few pieces of lingerie.

Mine was a “Breakfast at Tiffanys” themed showed – it was beautiful. They (my mom and bridesmaids) rented silver chivari chairs with tiffany blue tablecloths. The food was catered and designed as an elegant light lunch. They asked all guests in the invite to wear hats, gloves and their favorite little black dress (worded as optional, but many of the ladies participated). Favors were petit fours styled as Tiffany’s boxes and made by my wedding cake baker. There was tons more – but those things stand out for now. The attention to detail was amazing.

I had two:  one was a tea party and the other was an evening cocktail party.  I loved the themes of both, but for the cocktail party, I wish I included my registry info on it – because I got a ton of lingere (that ended up being exchanged) and what I REALLY wanted was my kitchen stuff! ๐Ÿ™‚

We had a lot of our houseware stuff already since we’d been living together and I cook a lot so my girls threw me a “Literature and Lingerie” party! It was basically lingerie but since I’m a bookworm too people gave me books too. People took it different ways. I got some books that were people’s favorites, some that related to my hobbies and some fun reads. It was a blast and I loved it ๐Ÿ™‚ We played one game where there were a bunch of nametags with famous literary couples and they got put on everyone’s backs. They had to ask questions to figure out who they were. Everyone loved it!

@eupenmalmody: I think we had the same shower!

I had Breakfast at Tiffany’s as well…..

The invites had the “Dahhhling” on it and everyone came in a black dress and pearls, petite fours all about in Tiffany blue colors, all the centerpieces were kitchen gadgets in the martha stewart blue-like Tiffany’s color and had a long plastic black cigarette in it for added decor, and there was a FABULOUS Tiffany’s Box Cake-with removable lid, and a sign when I came in that said “Bride & Co.”

I wore a white dress and it looked fabulous with everyone in their black and pearls!

My Maid/Matron of Honor is rrrrreally good at throwing parties—oh, and she also gave me Tiffany crystal candlesticks as my last present!

Other shower themes I LOVE……

Tea Party-Alice in Wonderland but for adults–huge table, mismatched chairs/teacups, stuffed mushrooms to eat!

Let Them Eat Cake-feathers, lace, marie antoinette style with masks and lots and lots of desserts

Google Image is one of my favorite things to explore ๐Ÿ™‚

I totally wanted a kitchen shower.

Or a tea parry.
