My dress came with a corset.  I know a pro of having a corset would be that if your weight fluctuates some, you would not need to worry as much about alterations.  Although I do like the look of button back dresses.

I like corset bc you have room to give and take if you gain or lose a little weight. And i just think its pretty 🙂

As full-figured girl, I love the corset — it does ridiculous things for the waist that a zipper can’t do.  Also, I can’t imagine getting to the month/week/day before the wedding and the zipper not zipping for whatever reason, no worries with that and the corset; I’d have to gain/lose a ton of weight for the dress not to look right.

Agreed with PPs on the aforementioned “pros” of corsets.

Cons: you need help to dress yourself. That probably doesn’t bother a lot of brides (might even be a plus for some), but I would find that supremely annoying. One of my criteria in choosing a gown was that I wanted something I could get into and out of on my own and without tying myself into too many knots, and something where I wouldn’t need an army of wranglers to help me use the ladies’ room, etc. A zipper is much easier in that regard than a corset or buttons.

Mine has a corset. I love the look the corset gives and it pulls you in at all the right places :o)

I wanted a corset but fell in love with a buttom up which would not have looked good with a corset so zipper with hook and eyes it was.

@lmarsch1:  Exactly this.  No additional alterations and I could tie it as tight or loose as needed.

Corset for me, I find it more beautiful on me.

I am a full figured lady and my dress was corset. I got compliments and asked if I had lost weight :). It does do miracles

I loved my zipper – I could get in and out of my dress by myself!  However, a corset gives you more flexibility and looks lovely.  I’m happy I had my zipper, but I like both looks.

I don’t like the look of corsets at all.  Mine is a zipper, but I may add non-functional buttons just for the look.
