- Wedding: July 2012
We recently bought a detached, single family home.
2 bedroom, walk up apartment (No doorman, no elevator)
1 bedroom, 1 bathroom apartment. We would love to buy a house (detatched) or a double/single wide.
thanks ladies! Were going Friday to walk through a bunch of manufactured homes/ double wides at 2 different companies to compare cost and quality. I really love the size the layouts and that everything inside will be specific to what we want. I also love that we can have all wood floors put in and the walls painted to our liking, you can even buy the house with a washer, dryer, fridge, dishwasher, and stove that you choose. They told us they try to keep it in your original price, the house I looked at last week was $75k so even with the customization and the bigger kitchen from a different style will still cost us $75k only going up slightly if we want anything that’s not standard (the washer and dryer). I think for us this is as good as it’ll get. A brand new house with all new everything and 3 bedrooms here especially one that’s 1500 sq ft would probably be closer to $200k. I’m really excited to do a walk through again I hope it goes well! We need to move out of our condo sooner rather than later.
I have a condo. I hate living in a condo, although mine is a renovated loft so its huge and open. But its just the neighbors. Ugh. They are nice and all, but one side has a baby, and I can hear the poor thing crying in the middle of the night. I would LOVE to afford a SFH where I live, and there is one down the block for sale, but its 4 million dollars. Darn.
Detached bungalow for us! We built it about a year and a half ago! (and by we I mean we picked it at the model home and the company built it.. but we picked the designs of stuff! haha)
We are in an apartment…. but hopefully will be in a house come this spring… i hate apartment living……its sooo expensive in my area to get a house but i am doing it even if i have to use all of my savings
At the moment I live in an apartment and SO lives in a house with his family, but we just bought a 1 bedroom apartment overlooking the city. We were extremely lucky that we found this new renovated apartment block much cheaper than market price! Because they sell the whole buildig at the same time (one person owned the whole building and sold individual apartment separately). They are still renovating it until the end of September.
Our plan is to pay off the loan quicker because our combined wages is about 3 times the mortgage each month. Then after a few years we are planning to take a another loan with this apartment’s equity and use it for an investment, to buy a house with a backyard (for the kids :))!
Make sure you speak to a financial advisor so you can get the best of your money, before starting anything. I went to see one and that was one of the best thing I ever did! Some people I know having financial problems because they didn’t know what they can realistically afford and there’s a lot of hidden cost too! Good luck!
(I’m 23 yo and SO is 25 yo live in Sydney, Australia)
I have a single-family detached house. Bought it in 2004. I love my neighborhood. Can’t beat great neighbors!
I was 26yrs old we live in a town home which is quite cute and cozy…. but we plan to move in a few years (3-5) I have been living in the town home for 4yrs
I really wanted a town house but never could find anything in the area I needed, so I have a single family detached home. It’s a one story with a two car garage though, so I’m not complaining 🙂
