Fiance got platinum for me, and I really love it. If price is not a big factor I’d go with platinum.
If price is abit of a factor; my mom has 18k white gold and it looks good, but a lil dark (its 46 years old) and has never been re-dipped. She wears it everyday.

I like the weight of platinum as well. It feels substantial.
Besides that and look of platinum, I also like the maintenance — I took it in for polishing before my wedding, which the jewelry store did in about 10 minutes for FREE. It looked brand new afterwards!

My ring is 18K white gold.
My fiance went with 14K white gold for his band when I explained to him that it is actually more durable (a trait he likes).

My ring is platinum with rose gold accent. Fiance is a jeweler and he chose/designed the ring so I’ve never questioned his decision.

Other: Platinum. If I couldn’t have platinum then I would get palladium. For me the main reason is I’m allergic to most white gold, but I also don’t like having to bother with getting it redipped.
