Fiance and I are getting married outside. Originally we wanted one of our best friends to play his guitar for our ceremony. He is a great guitarist, but then when I pictured our ceremony in my head, I envisioned walking down the isle to Canon in D. Although this can be done on guitar, I personally do not think that it does this beautiful song any justice. We are having a soloist sing “The Prayer” as well. Do you think it was be easier and less stressful to have our DJ do our ceremony music? It isn’t that much more expensive and it could save a big headache…
What did you do for your wedding? If you haven’t gotten married yet, what are you planning to do?

We had a guitarist play a few songs that sounded good acoustically. I’d suggest looking on YouTube for some acoustic versions of songs so you can see how they sound rather than just picking a song that might not translate well to a solo guitar.

We are having a pianist, violinist, and classical guitarist. My inspiration was Omar Akram “Passage into Midnight” and “Dancing in the wind”. A lot of people suggested we do a band rather than a DJ at an outside ceremony.

I would love to get a guitarist or string quartet but it’s just not in the budget. Our DJ is willing to do it for free, by setting up a small stand at the back of the ceremony location, which is outside but just next to the reception pavilion. I’m ok with it!

We had a friend learn some songs on guitar that I asked him to and he played before the ceremony and during the ceremony – he was awesome!

We are asking a friend to play the ukelele. If he doesn’t want to haul his ukelele across the country we might ask another friend who is local to play violin.

We also had an outdoor wedding & for my ceremony music we used an Ipod and had my DOC que it, it was a risk but we hit all the ques perfectly!
Have you heard an instrumental Cannon in D? If after hearing it, your heart is still set on the audio version, I would go with what you really want. And you could just be like me and have someone at your venue or DOC make the ques on an ipod.
For the reception, however, we had a DJ 🙂

We are having a bluegrass string trio for our ceremony and cocktail hour. They have a violinist, so she will play the lead on the classic ceremony music.

My dad and brother both played trumpet while I was growing up, so I asked my dad to find a trumpet player for the ceremony. The guy he got was great. When my brother got married, he had a trumpet player and a keyboardist.
