How did you decide on it?
How did you decide on it?
We had a buffet because it was less expensive and let people choose what they wanted to eat without us asking!
We picked a seated dinner because it was actually less expensive than a buffet at our reception facility and we some of the dishes we liked were only available as plated (I guess they didn’t hold up well in a buffet line). I was fine with asking our guests to pick an option when they RSVPed.
We chose buffet style because it is less expensive than plated.
We went with buffet because I wanted non-traditional food. We’re having an asian station and a mexican station.
We are having a backyard wedding and it’s really casual, so we are having a buffet.
At our venue, buffet and plated dinners cost the same. We went with plated because we just preferred it over buffet-styled.
Buffet, because we also wanted to do non-traditional and stationy food. I’m hoping it’ll create flow, and besides that, it’s saving us money. Win.
We went with buffet because it was the most food for the money. We could have gotten plated for not much more but it was actually less food.
Plated. It was less expensive at our venue, plus I like the flow of it better. All the buffet receptions I have been to have been a huge traffic jam trying to get some food. Not a fan.
I really want to have heavy appetizers/mini foods (sliders, mini mac n cheese, mini tacos, whatever) but my fiance thinks it would be worng to do since we are having a 5pm wedding and guests will be hungry. Who cares? I could fill up on appetizers! I don’t really want the boring sit-down meal 🙁
@loloheart, if done correctly heavy appetizers are actually more food than a plated meal. A plated meal is the equivalent of 4-6 heavy appetizers. During the dinner hour, you should serve at least 15-20 heavy appetizers per person to equate a full meal. So if anyone goes home hungry, it’s their own fault. At the same time, heavy appetizers are not cheese trays, which so many people insist they are, and heavy appetizers are quite filling on their own. If that’s what you want, then do it.
At our venue, the buffet was the most expensive option because it included the most food, and we selected this. This includes a plethora of hot and cold butler passed appetizer, multiple different chicken entrees, seafood entrees, beef entrees, salads, pastas, carving stations (where a chef carves the meat and places it onto your plate), and an Italian sweets buffet in addition to our tiered wedding cake.
We selected it because it was the most food and gave guests the most selection. We are also having a top shelf open bar and we wanted our guests to eat as much as possible so that people aren’t getting too drunk (although those who want to still probably will).
we went with plated. there wasn’t much of a price difference… plus it wasn’t just a “per person/per plate” price… we just had a minimum spend amount… that we could meet however we wanted between liquor, food, dessert, apps, etc.
they had a trio plate option that offered everyone a bit of everything so we went with that…
reminds me… i need to do a tasting of our choices ASAP! 🙂
We are having a very smallw edding- 15 people- and are having a fiarly fancy sit down (since it own’t cost that much)
