What type of underwear do you wear to a bridal fitting?

If you’ve already purchased the dress, and this fitting is for measurements, then it’s suggested you wear what you’re planning to wear day of wedding so that the dress is altered correctly.

If you’re just going to try on dresses, then a strapless bra is a safe bet and maybe some full coverage underpants so your fanny isn’t hanging out (though I’m sure the salespersons have seen it all). I myself wore a thong when I tried on dresses and gave my friends, the saleswoman, and everyone else in the salon a nice show when the dress was too small to zip over my derrière.

I brought a strapless bra to my first fitting but I didn’t end up using it. The seamstress recommended sewing cups into my bodice, so I did not wear a bra with my dress at all. Go ahead and bring one, but you may end up not needing it. Also, I wore my normal underwear, but I had a big poofy ballgown. If you have a very snug fitting dress that might show panty lines, you may want to think about a thong or other panty-line-minimizing option.

I’m a private person so I’ll stick to spanks. Can’t hurt!

I have many seamstress friends (I used to work in the fabric department of a store). Always wear the undergarments and shoes you will be wearing on your wedding day to your fittings, especially if your dress is fitted. (If not get something as close to it as possible). Different undergarments and heels will effect the way your dress is altered and subsequently how it will fit on your wedding day. I can’t speak for all, but most are not bothered by seeing any type of body part. Odds are they’ve seen it all before.

I would wear what you plan on wearing day-of. During a fitting I realized the strapless bra I’d planned on wearing didn’t work very well so the seamstress sewed cups into the bodice and i went braless. And with panties/spanx you want to see whether you’re going to have any issues with lines or anything.

They’ve seen a million bums and boobs before so don’t worry too much about that! They’re also discrete about it, they don’t like stand in the stall staring you down while you undress. Normally they’ll just sort of hover outside and pop in briefly to hold things out for you or zip etc.

I wore a strapless bra (although sometimes I ditched it depending on the dress) and nude colored offbrand Spanx shorts. When it came to my actual wedding my dress was supportive enough that I didn’t need a bra and just wore the shorts.

At the fitting you should wear what you will wear on the day, this is to get the dress fitting you exactly so you don’t want to wear an unlined bra to the fitting and a push up strapless on the day.

Think about the shape of your dress and what would work best.  Also don’t be afraid to bring a few options and see what works best.

I wore seamless nude bikini cut panties and pasties as I wanted a backless dress and any bra would have gotten in the way. I felt very comfortable and the the women who helped me at the 3 salons I went to were very good at making me feel covered while changing from one dress to the next.

I wore a nude strapless bra and nude spanx briefs because I figured that was closest to what I would be wearing on the actual day. I didn’t want to be hung up on looking at panty lines or worrying that my stomach poked out some since I knew Spanx corrected those issues.

Whatever underwear, lingerie, foundation garments you plan on wearing under your dress. I actually bought a few options to my first fitting, so we could see which worked best.

To echo the other bees, wear what you’re planning on wearing on your wedding day. I don’t like my butt hanging out for everyone to see so I’m wearing nude colored spanx.

I would highly recommend a longline bra if you need a lot of support.

I wore a strapless bra and some very thin material spanx-type box shorts, so no butt hanging out!

I wore a red bra the day I tried on wedding dresses and got flak from my crew and the attendants over it! Haha. My Maid/Matron of Honor is the one who helped me get dressed, and she also thought it was hilarious.

I agree with PPs, that the best bra is a strapless bra to get a better idea of how every type of dress may look and feel. There are so many different styles of dress that require a strapless bra.
