My husband is from Michigan and his favorite ice cream is Superman or Blue Moon ice cream, which is only available in the Midwest.  So for his wedding gift, I had Superman ice cream flown in overnight and surprised him with it at the reception after we cut the cake.  So our guests had ice cream and cake!  (Personally, I think the ice cream looks and tastes heinous!)

I’d like to see fun things that were done too so am bumping this…

That ice cream looks like play dough, but very sweet of you to get some shipped to you.

We had our wedding ceremony atop a moutain and had our guests ride a ski lift to get there (we did have an alternative to get there but out of our 120 guests only 4-5 decided to opt for the alternative).  It was a huge hit.

We have a few things…

  1. Favors: To go along with our fall theme, we’re giving each guest their own mini apple pie. Each pie will be approx. 6” in diameter and be made fresh the morning of from a local orchard.
  2. Late night snack: At around 10 pm we’ll be bringing out platters of hot apple cider donuts (again, made fresh the morning of from the orchard) and mini milk cartons. We live in “apple orchard country” so it’s fitting.
  3. “Faux-to-booth”: We’re making our own. Fiance and his dad will be building a makeshift wall to use as the backdrop. We’ll make it look like a wall in a house by adding crown molding, wainscoting, wallpaper and some pictures and what not. We’ll also be building an enclosure to house a 37” LCD tv, one of our computers (probably the mac mini) and an HD camera. Fiance is a mac developer so he is in the process of coding our own photobooth app since we don’t really love anything that’s available. The whole thing will be controlled by remote. Our guests will have the option to take either still photos or video clips in the “faux-to-booth”. The images/video will be projected onto the TV so that they can see what it will look like before taking the photos and review the photos/video afterwards.
  4. Guestbook: To go along with the “faux-to-booth”, we will have life size, dry-erase though bubbles available for our guests to write their “guest book” entries on. They’ll then take a picture with the thought bubble and we’ll add all of the guest book photos to our wedding photo book that I’ll be making afterwards. All of the pictures (not just the guest book ones) will be uploaded to our website after our wedding for our guests to download and print, if they want.
  5. Officiant: My cousin is marrying us. She recently got ordained online so she’ll be performing our ceremony. Considering Fiance and I are both atheist, we’d obviously never have a religious figure do it and picking a JOP out of the phone book just seemed weird to me. I love that someone who cares for us will be officiating our wedding.

Are you ready for this??!!  I managed to get the NFL’s HOUSTON TEXANS Pep Band to surprise my Boo-skey, my guests, even the vendors. We are the biggest and most obnoxious fans!!!  No one knew and it was  a tough secret to keep.  But the response was amazing.  GO TEXANSSSSSS!!!!!

We gave out oak trees as our favours.

We played the Newlywed shoe game, and it was such a hit.   So much fun!

@katieebee: Holy crow! That trumps mine! My Darling Husband would have LOVED that! (If it were Green Bay, haha)

There was a fountain outside our Church, across the street. We had a fun photo shoot there, “pretending” we were falling in the water, etc. (I guess that’s in the unique category but it’s fun to look at the pics now, too!)

@Ginger123: OH MY GOD. I love Superman icecream! I’m also originally from Michigan and I miss it so much. That stuff is the bomb.com and so pretty. Favorite ice cream ever.
