Is it worth it to get a video camera for the baby? On our digital camera there’s a video option but it’s really short clips that aren’t all that good. We don’t own a TV but I’d kinda like to be able to upload videos to send to my family and have as memories in the future. Anyone have a video camera you like for your kids?

@troubled: I use a Canon Powershot SX210. In addition to being a 14.1 megapixel camera, it also records HD video and can zoom while taking video at 14x. It also stabilizes video, which helps.

I got a Kodak HD Playsport last year for my birthday; I really like it. It’s small, so it’s perfect for travel, and it’s waterproof, which I’m really looking forward to testing this summer at the beach. 🙂 It’s called a “shoot and share camera”, which means it’s intended use is for videoing and posting to blogs, YouTube, etc…; you can boost the available recording time by buying a bigger memory card. Ours holds about 3 hours of video right now, which is more than we need at this point. The only thing I don’t like is that it has a smaller screen, but it’s not that big of a deal most of the time. Also, it’s under $150, which is pretty good, I think.

My SIL bought us a FLIP cam for Christmas this year and we love it. It’s easy to use, charges on the computer, and uploads videos easily. Ours only holds an hour of footage but really that’s all we need at this point.
