I’m a size 4/6 in street clothes, and the bridal boutique ordered a Size 4 in my Maggie Sottero – Jovi. I’ve tried it on once since it came in, and oh man…let’s just say, it’s a great thing I have another 11 months to try and fit into it!!

I feel ya! The bridal boutique told me I’m a 0-2 in the bust 2-4 in the waist and 4-6 in the butt. Oh my lol. I just decided to try a 4 and hope for the best!

I’m a street size 12/14 and I had to order an 18 for my Jim Hjelm gown. Oh well, it’s just a number.

I’m a 2-4 and ordered a 4 (Enzoani), and it’s a little tighter than I wanted in the hips so my seamstress is letting it out a bit in that area.

It’s amazing what the size difference is! My street size is about a 2-4 (depending on designer-I’m bigger on the bottom), but my dress is a size 12!

I have an odd figure – size 10 from the ribcage down, but a 12-14 in the bust and shoulders, mostly thanks to my generous boobage. I knew my wedding dress size would be a toss-up, and I ended up having to get a 16. I’m still making an effort to ignore the tag.
The drama doesn’t stop there. I tried on the size 16 store sample and it fit like a glove, so there I was thinking, awesome – no alterations! BUT…it turned out the store sample was pretty stretched out from having lots of other ladies squeezing in and out of it, so when I received my brand new size 16 gown, it didn’t fit!
All’s well that ends well – I got a corset back put in, so it fits perfectly now. I even managed to drop a few pounds, so I’m feeling pretty good.
But what’s up with these gowns running so small?! Beyond being a confidence-killer, it’s just flat-out impractical.

I usually wear a size 0-2 in dresses, and ordered a size 4 Amsale dress that they let out a tiny bit in the ribcage. I’m very straight up and down with no real boobs/hips/thighs/waist to speak of, so I usually have to wear fairly small dresses.
All of my curvy friends had more of a discrepancy between their street size and wedding dress size since they want to accomodate your largest measurement (and size down from there) instead of letting out the dress.

i am a street size 8/10 (depending on the store) and my Marisa fit and flare dress was a size 16. *sigh* but it was to fit my bust (32GG) the bottom i was an actual size 10 – the sample was a 10 and it zipped up all the way up the back until where the bottom of the bust came into play.the bottom has to be altered wayy down….

Street size 6, Dress size 8. Not too much of a difference, but still bigger than my street size!!

i definately agree i think it depends on the designer! My dress is Maggie Sottero.. i am a size 2 and ordered a size 2. All the dresses i tried on that were MS were true to my street size.

I am a 0 and ordered a 4 in my wedding dress. Overall it fits very well. It needs to be taken in at the waist and the waist raised and it needs to be hemmed.

im a street size 16. my wedding dress is a 22. we could have ordered a 20, but went with the 22 to be safe. i’ve lost 25lbs since we ordered it and now i wish we had gone with a 20 or lower. My dress is WAYYY too big!!
