Make me feel better because I just had one.
At work lately, our staff has been changing so I’ve had to fill in on the internet/phones at work and I guess having customers hang up on me and lie to me all day has made me aggressive about respect.
Was about to leave after staying 30 minutes late to give some guy directions to our location and the receptionist calls me about a customer who just came in. So I go out to greet him – same guy who I gave directions to – and he’s totally non responsive – barely makes eye contact and plays on his phone. I hold out my hand for a handshake and he leaves it hanging there. And without even thinking (but feeling kind of offended), I just reach down and grab his hand..the one still holding his phone, and actually try to reach my fingers between the phone and his palm. He gives me this “wtf?” look and I look down and go “wait…this is awkward” and let go. So I basically just forced him to hold hands with me for a few seconds lol.
Also, I meant to post this in the lounge. Definitely time for some wind-down.

@harleyq: Don’t feel bad. That’s what he gets for being a douche!

I’ve been really tired lately. Today was no exception. I went to pick up takeout for lunch and the girl asked what name it was under. I totally started rattling off my order, and she goes “Right… so, the name?”
Then I paid and she handed me my food and said “Enjoy!” and I said “You too. I mean, you’re welcome. I mean, thanks.” Then I ran for the exit haha.

This afternoon while working, I had about 15 IM windows open (I telecommute so I’m on IM constantly with co-workers) and after I hit the Send button, I realized the “I’m going to walk the doggie, my love, brb, I love you so much!” message I’d intended for Darling Husband had actually gone into the chat I was having with one of my account managers. Whoops!
At least he has a sense of humor!

Omg on what day do I not have an awkward encounter?

A couple days ago one of the car porters brought me a bag of popcorn. He stayed after his shift to pop it for me and everything. It was clearly just and excuse to talk/flirt with me (even though I don’t flirt back and I’ve made it clear that I’m engaged). But once he gave it to me he didn’t really have any planned talking points. So there were lots of weird pauses. It was awkward in a “I’m a teenager and have no idea how to communicate that I like you and I know you’re taken but I still need an excuse to talk to you so um heres some popcorn?”-way. Totally awkward, kinda flattering and a little pathetic. When he was almost out of earshot my coworker shouted “What a flirt!” and I’m pretty sure he heard lol.

Me = too many awkward encounters to keep track of. Mostly when I finally figure out how I want to jump in a conversation, but the subject has changed, so I get strange looks at and my comment gets brushed away.
I am also socially anxious, so that doesn’t help my confidence any.
