Our most expensive SINGLE thing was $199.  My great aunt bought it (a china serving platter).  No, wait, a $350 set of knives, that his best friend got us.  Now – my mom and dad and grandparents each got us 6 place settings of china ($120ea), and my other grandma got us 12 place settings of flatware ($49ea).  We also just got red envelopes full of cash and checks from a lot of his family and friends (that’s normal Asian tradition), but my family likes to give presents.

We have some luggage- that is around $300. And also my Le Creuset dutch oven- which is about $260. Honestly- I don’t fully expect anyone to buy it, but I’m probably going to get it for myself anyway! Other than that, the majority of what is on our registry is under $150.

Generally, the average amount to spend on a wedding gift is between $50-$100.  But especailly these days, many people don’t have that kind of money.  So, our registry has an average price of $20 per item, with lots of smaller ones, and a few larger ones.

The most expensive item is a kitchen “island” which is $730– I’m not expecting anyone to buy it for us, but Macy’s has a system that after your wedding, you get a certain % off the items that you buy for yourself to “complete” your registry– so after the wedding, we are hoping to use the cash people give us to cover some of the cost, then we will pay the balance ourselves.

I also have a few high priced cooking items like a 14 pc. set of pots & pans, some le cruset cast iron cookware, a complete set of luggage, and a complete set of bedding for our cal. king ranging from $100-300.  But only about 6% of the registry is items over $100; more than 50% is items under $20.

Our set of pots that were $250 and my (yes my not our) kitchenaid that was $300. Oh and our knives that were $250. My parents bought the first two for us, one for a shower and one for Christmas. The knives were bought by another family memeber.  Other than that, we had like $100 sheets, $120 bedding set, and lots of cheaper stuff.

We had a Dyson at $499, but we pretty much put it on the registry as a joke – we never expected anyone to get it, and luckily, we didn’t (we would have felt awful if someone actually had!).  It wasn’t on my registry, but my amazing Maid/Matron of Honor got us a stand mixer, which would have been the next most expensive thing on the registry.

We had a Kitchen Aid stand mixer (about $350 – FI’s parents ended up buying one for us so we took it off the registry), and we still have a set of pressure cookers (low $200’s, I think?). Everything else is less. We do have a mattress on there more as a “symbolic” item, with a note saying “we haven’t decided yet exactly what size of a bed we are going to get, but if you would like to make a contribution toward purchasing one, we would welcome it gratefully.”

Our most expensive item is a $600 Dyson Animal Ball vacuum.  We don’t expect anyone to actually buy it; we wanted to put it on the registry so we can get the completion discount after the wedding.

We have a Dyson vaccume on ours and that’s about $699.  We’re thinking about adding some furniture (table/chairs/couch) to our Pottery Barn registry.  So those items will probably top the Dyson, lol.  I’m adding stuff because of the completion discounts.

Sold as a single item, it would be 8 place settings of my china for $199. Most of my items are under $50.

We put a $700 rug on their.  Mostly as a joke but we are thinking about using our completion discount to get it.  We also had a $700 set of pots and pans on there.  My mom bought those for us when they were having a good sale.

Ours was the Dyson at $499 or so.  We didn’t expect to get it, we just wanted to use the discount after the wedding.
