My wedding isn’t until the 16th, but my Maid/Matron of Honor said she would take me to get my eyebrows waxed this week and that will be my wedding gift…
So bees, did you receive anything weirder than an eyebrow waxing?!

BakerBee16: haven’t had the wedidng yet, but at my shower I received an “Our first Christmas 2013” ornament. Which would be fine except we’re getting married in 2014, and we were together for 2 Christmases before 2013. Definitely scratching my head over that one….

BakerBee16: LOL — that is going to be one of the greatest stories you ever tell when you and your Maid/Matron of Honor are old ladies
My wedding isn’t until September 20th so I don’t have anything of substance to add

Mine isn’t until the 17th but I want to follow this thread. Lol to the previous two gifts…WTF? A re-gifted Christmas ornament, perhaps?

A partial set of painted baking dishes. They included the info packet about how to care for the dishes so I know one was missing.
That side of the family has notorious re grifters so that was t really a surprise. We also forms check for $150.82. From DH’s friend. Obviously a joke but strange.

LivingInPink99: Oh wow hahah!
cynbarr: I cracked up when she texted it to me. I’m almost wondering if she was kidding…but I doubt it because she is still single so she doesn’t understand wedding etiquette LOL.
Stiletto13: Geez they could have at least taken out the instructions that basically told on them!

Four small coffee stirring spoons. It was…odd.

BakerBee16: A teapot. Now I have 2, and they were both gifts. The first one sat untouched for 4 or 5 years. Now it has a friend.
In fairness, I do drink tea. Sometimes. But nobody else does. I always make it in a huge mug for myself. A teapot is just an extra dirty dish for no reason. If I was to use it, I’d just dump the entire thing into one mug. I suppose if this keeps up, I could make a cool display of them.
I suppose that’s not too bad or weird. An eyebrow waxing, huh? You win. That’s another level of strange gift.

MizzStark1026: They didn’t give you any coffee or mugs to go with it? So weird hahah

At our shower one of my mother’s friends, who happens to work at Hallmark, bought us 7(!) ‘Our first Christmas’ ornaments (we have been together through 3 Christmases) and one ornament said, ‘This year all I want for Christmas is a train set and a baby brother. Baby Maxwell coming 2014.’ W.T.F.?

BakerBee16: A gurgle pot. If you haven’t see this, check it out and watch a video because it is SO cool, but totally unexpected. I have never seen a gurgle pot besides what we got.

emileem: WHAT THE HELL hahaha.
MrsNebraska: I had no idea what it was going to be when I youtubed it LOL…but I saw a video that said it is the perfect “hostess, bridal shower, or wedding gift” so maybe that’s where they got the idea. It is cool though!!

so far we’ve receieved lovely gifts but I didn’t have a shower and our wedding isn’t until the 17th.
My mom did buy me a rather ugly ‘the bride’ robe that’s really not my taste and I would neve have bought but now I have to wear….

I got the ugliest candleholder, to hang on the wall. It was made of dark wood, with Mary, Joseph, and baby Jesus, in relief, painted in red, white, and blue. It was bought at the religious center, where the husband of the couple worked. We were married the end of December, at least.
It was so ugly I tried to sand it, to repaint it, but I gave up and threw the damn thing out. Luckily, I don’t think the couple (friends of my parents) ever visited our home.
I had trouble writing the thank you card, because I didn’t know what to call it – the “candle holder thingy?”

BakerBee16: A bottle of rum and a $20. I swear we’re not alcoholics.
