Hey girls 🙂
So I had an ultrasound on Thursday and I was really excited because things seemed to be great, but now I’m a little concerned. I was telling my sister last night that the ultrasound tech said the baby’s heart rate was 116. I asked the tech if that was good or bad and she said it was “normal.” So I took that as a good sign. However my sister said that was way too low and I must have misheard her and it’s actually 160. I called the nurse at my OB’s office this morning and she verified that the HR was 116. I asked if it was low and her response was “It’s low but it’s normal for 6 weeks.”
I’m not sure what that means. I feel like if it’s normal for the baby’s age, they should just say that it’s normal, not “low but normal.” Does that make sense? I’ve seen a lot online that says anything over 100 is good, or over 110 is good. I keep seeing that “normal” for 6 weeks would be 103-126. And I mean, my baby is closer to the 126 than the 103.
This ultrasound would have been at 6w2d going by my LMP or exactly 6w going by when I’m pretty sure I ovulated. The ultrasound tech said the baby was measuring right where it should be.
So help me out here so I don’t freak out. Does this seem normal to you? Has anyone else had a similar HR at 6 weeks and gone on to have a healthy baby? I feel like if this was something to be concerned about the nurse this morning wouldn’t have told me not to be concerned. I have an appt this Friday anyway with my OB and I was told they probably won’t do another U/S. If they thought something was wrong, surely they would have said something right?

I went for an ultrasound at 5 weeks and his heart rate was 163.

This link has a chart for feral heart rate by week. 116 seems right in the middle for 6 weeks. I wouldn’t stress!

I didn’t have mine until 8 weeks (it was 160) however a friend of mine went at 6 weeks and it was 96. Her baby is totally healthy and she’s almost 17 weeks now 🙂

I went in at 6w2d and the heart rate was 125. My dr said that I shouldn’t expect anything over 100bpm since it was still early, so she was pleased and surprised.

At 6 weeks my baby’s heartrate was 115 bmp. I googled and got worried, then I talked to the OB. SHe said it was low but normal and at that time there was nothing to worry about. I am currently 21 weeks pregnant and at every ultrasound I have had since then the baby’s heartrate has been above 150. Try not to worry to much.

Mine was 124 and I think I was 6w3d, but can’t remember how far I was. It was 178 about 6 weeks later and 165 a week after that.

@swanks4tw: I think that number is normal. I had mine at 6wks 5days and it was 122 and the doctor said it was normal. I wouldnt stress it. Eveyone’s first u/s and HR is different. Maybe this is low for your sister, because maybe hers was taken more than 6 weeks?

Thanks everyone! This makes me feel better.
@MrsR4ever: I think it was yours that I saw in the May babies thread that made me feel more hopeful about where mine is. I’m just worried about everything. My mom said that won’t change. She said she still worries about all of her kids even though we’re grown 🙂

@swanks4tw: I was at the other end. I though my baby’s HB was too strong, even though the u/s tech didn’t bat an eyelash. My baby’s heat beat was…192 or 194 (the exact escapes me right this second). I was scared becuase I have never come across one that high. Hopefully it has slowed down a tish this Friday 🙂

@swanks4tw: they didn’t tell us heart rate at 6 weeks, only saw heartbeat on u/s. I wouldn’t worry about it. There are way too many things to worry and freak out about along the way, this shouldn’t be one of them! If there was something wrong, your doctor would tell you.

I didn’t go in at 6 weeks. But at 8 weeks, it was 174.

At 6w5d my baby’s heartrate was 131. Sounds like yours is in the range of normal.

I think 122? 6 weeks HBs are definitely lower than HBs later in pregnancy.
