The only thing I can think of is not getting a picture with my mom and grandma alone.

Even if we didnt want to pay for a fancy videographer, I would have at least have set up a camera to record our ceremony. Neither of our grandfathers are doing well and we had them do a part in the wedding and now I wish we had it to watch again.

I would NOT have worn shapewear ( I wore this spanx, corset kind of thing)  I didn’t need it and it made me look bulky.  All of my profile ceremony shots look ridiculous.  I took it off about an hour into the reception.  So uncomfortable.

My one and only regret is not getting formal family photos with all our aunts/uncles/cousins, etc which we planned to do but everyone ended up leaving from the ceremony straight to the reception before we got pictures with them. We have pictures of all the tables, but I’m still upset we don’t have the formal ones of everyone together.

I handed off my phone to a good friend and asked her to use it – she videoed many parts of the processional and ceremony, but all in little clips. I wish I had asked her to do longer clips . . . But I am SO thrilled I gave her my phone! It was amazing to have photos to look at that night, along with the wedpics.

I think my biggest thing was not looking through as many tips and ideas before choosing what was best for us.

Two things:

I would have taken a benedryl before halfway through the night before my wedding.  I got almost no sleep.  The adrenaline kicked in and it didn’t matter during the wedding, but getting ready was a drag.

A couple family members were really pressuring us to do our first dance, and we didn’t get a chance to tell important people we were starting.  My MIL missed our first dance and nearly missed the mother son dance!  We videotaped it, but we still felt bad.

Really, the wedding was such a perfect wedding, that there aren’t any regrets.  Just have fun and relax.  Something will probably go wrong, but you’ll be suprised how much you could care less.  My flowers didn’t show up until 5 minutes before the ceremony and we didn’t even know if they would get there, and I seriously could not have cared any less at the moment.  I was like- I’m marrying my best friend, I don’t need flowers to do that!  I almost regret how much effort I put in towards making the wedding perfect, because it totally wasn’t necessary!

My two biggest regrets were:

1) Not scheduling enough time to get dressed, I ended up setting us back about a half hour and feeling rushed and stressed during pictures.

2)Not getting a reception dress. I wore a ballgown with a hoop skirt but took the hoop off for the reception because it was difficult to sit and maneuver around tables/ through doorways etc. But without the hoop I was SO hot and uncomfortable and wish I had a light reception dress to change into.

emileem:   I did not remind the DJ of the timing for my processional song, I did not ask my DOC to check on the wedding day that the venue got the menu right, and I wish I had asked that there be no children at the ceremony.   I also wish I had asked the venue if the getting ready area was air conditioned (it wasn’t).

I am forever grateful for our choice of photographer, and florist.  They went above and beyond and I had no stress with either.

Best wishes that all goes well on your big day!!!

Not telling my dad to fix his hair during family portraits.  It was windy and his hair was flying around.  The man doesn’t know what hairspray is and I should have noticed….

Obviously not the worst thing that could have gone wrong so I count myself lucky!

emileem:  Two things, and both were technical things with the venue.

I wish someone (anyone!) had checked the volume for the mic for the ceremony.  I assumed the venue coordinator would do this as it was set up.  But the volume was so low that no one heard our ceremony.

I wish I had been more detailed about how I wanted the lighting for the reception.  We had two rooms separated by a hallway with 3 large open doors that spilled out into the hallway – so things flowed into each other but one was for tables and other was for dance floor.  We had lots of candles and were told the lights could dim.  They eventually turned the lights completely off in the dance floor room.  It was soooo dark and I didn’t think to ask during the reception for them to just turn them on very dim.  On the other hand, the room with the tables, lights were on full blast!  I though they would dim them and let the candles provide a nice glow.  Again, didn’t get a chance to have them adjust it during the fact.  Not a huge deal but once it got dark, the lighting wasn’t soft and romantic like I wanted.
