We got married for pretty cheap, because we went to Las Vegas, but I will go ahead and share:

Bridal attire:  Dress: $76 (it was a white prom/formal dress at Macy’s, I really did not care about the dress and decided I wasn’t spending more than $200). I did not wear a veil, and I bought white sandals to wear with the dress but ended up going barefoot because I refused to shell out money to get my dress hemmed and I figured I’d have a better chance of not tripping if I didn’t wear shoes. I did not wear any jewelry.

Hair and makeup: I had both done at Robert Cromeans Salon at Mandalay Bay, and it was about $200. That was by far the biggest waste of money for my wedding. She tried to talk me into wearing false eyelashes and took it personally when I said no. I also did my own nails. I think my bridesmaids looked better than I did and I wished I would have had them do my hair and makeup instead.

Ceremony: We bought a package that was all lumped together, but I think it was around $2500. That included the chapel, the minister, the pianist, the flowers, the wedding video, and the photographer (not the pictures, just the photographer)

Pictures: About $900 for all the pictures taken, including some 5X7s, and a 16X20, as well as the CD.

Groom’s attire: I think like $150 for the tux rental?

Travel: About $1000 for the two of us to fly in and stay at the hotel (Mandalay Bay, another waste of $200/night) plus I ponied up another $800 for two of my bridesmaids to fly in and and I picked up the third bridesmaid’s hotel room. None of my friends had much money at the time. Also, we paid $400 for my MIL’s flight and hotel.

Dinner: I think this was about $3000, and that included a sit down dinner for 30 people, the cake, and open bar.

Our wedding budget goal was $6500 (my parents gave us X amount of money and told us we could keep whatever we didn’t spend, so we were really hoping to keep it to $6500). I guess when you add everything up it’s closer to $8900, although my friend’s travel expenses (and my MIL’s) as well as the pictures were paid out of my own savings, and not part of our ‘wedding money’.

If I could do it over again I would do things mostly the same, other then I would have picked another hotel and skipped the professional hair and makeup job altogether.

@ohheavenlyday: This is awesome! Obviously, given my date, I don’t actually know what my budget breakdown will be, but yours is so close to how I’m planning mine and it’s really super helpful. Of course there are some differences (e.g. we’ll need to rent chairs for the ceremony, but our ceremony & reception venue is the same place, blah blah, things like that), but it is such a huge help to me to see someone’s budget that’s along the same lines as mine for a similar number of people. Makes me think that maybe I’m not actually crazy to think this’ll work!

@ohheavenlyday: Very cool. We also have tables (indoor)/chairs/linens/silverware and even some centerpiece element options included with the venue, so that’s huge. We are having alcohol, but a friend who brews great beer is providing that as a wedding present, and we’ll buy a case of wine or three, and another friend is going to iPod DJ for us as well. The largest unknowns for now are the photographer, the food costs (depending on how the guest list ultimately pans out… I think I’ve got it under control, but not counting my chickens before they’re hatched), and whatever ultimately happens with decorating.

Anyway, I won’t threadjack, I’m just happy to know I’m not completely dreaming!

oh mine being 10 years ago..I dont remember completely..but heres an estimate  as I can remember 

2,500 for dress, veil, all the undergarments.. no shoes ..got married on the beach..went barefoot!

300 hair and makeup ..payed for everyone 

around 8,000 for food

payed around 800 for all my bridesmaid dresses.. (I think its crap that bridemaids have to pay for their dress that they dont get to choose..so we payed.. I have been a bridesmaid many times and hate smiling and shelling out money for dresses I hate ..go ahead call me a beaotch..I hate it….lol)

600 for tux and groomsmen tux.. again we payed

500 on flowers 

2,000 table, chairs, arbor, linens

1,500  Dj ..so worth the money!!!!!!!… he had lights, party pumpers, toys to play with during the songs,.. the works

alcohol (Have no idea..because we had a bar tender friend who did it for us and payed for some of it.. and he went on another “beer run” during the reception… because we ran out of everything.. and everyone was shelling out money for alcohol even though it was open bar.. bunch of drunks..lol

100 for the permit for the space to have the wedding

 0 reception area… my fil house was on the beach and has a nice size backyard

officiant.. free..

photographer.. 1,200… he scammed us.. long HORRIBLE story.. =no pictures other than friends and family… and no no money back


theres more..just dont remember… but I believe we were just over 20,000 in the end… this time around… we are hoping to keep it around 10,000

I don’t really have a breakdown for you, but I’m getting married on $3500 which includes our rings.  Aside from the rings, our cake will be the most expensive part because it’s red velvet cheesecake.  Guest list of 41 people.

Hair and makeup: not sure yet.

Groom’s attire: $120.00 for khaki suite that he can wear again.

Bridesmaid or Best Man gifts: hangers $60, personalized makeup bags $60.00

Flowers: $1,000 for ceremony flowers/bouquets/bouts/corsages and centerpieces.

Officiant: $300

Reception room rental: $2000

Wedding Planner $800.00

Photography: $150 (I one an auction bid) best deal overall

Cake: $300

Band $1200

Invitations STD-98.00 (rehearsal dinner invites free on vistaprint): $125.00

Rehearsal dinner: Approximately $2500.00 (FI’s mom paid for this). 

Catering $3,800.00

Videographer $450.00

Hoping to keep it under 12K.
