Miss-Joker:  I stopped taking the pill a month ago. I’m still waiting for my withdrawal bleed. I have a pimple, which is annoying. I also have more CM and a better sex drive.

I”m not TTC yet and won’t be for about another 16 months at least, but I’m dying to know what will happen when I sto taking the pill too.  I’ve been on the pill since I was 18 (16 years now….).

I noticed increase in acne, spotting and a ton of CM all of which I never had. My first cycle was 28 days, my second cycle is currently 66 days, which never happened before the pill. I also noticed some pregnancy type symptoms the first cycle off like heartburn and dizziness. I was on the pill for exactly three years.

I’m on day 24 of my “cycle” and haven’t noticed any changes since getting off except more CM and I’ve been flirting more too!

Miss-Joker:  when I stopped the pill after 10 years on it, my first cycle was around 97 days. It took about a year and a half after that for my cycles to normalize. Thankfully, I immediately felt an increased sex drive and my mood swings leveled considerably. I felt so much more like myself off the pill, I was kind of angry at myself for staying on it for so long.

I was on the pill for 16 years when I went off in April.  My first cycle I ovulated right around CD 14 and got pregnant, but resulted in miscarriage.  My cycles were between 30-32 days after that so i never had the crazy long adjustment period that some people see.  the only notable thing was a bit more acne, spotting the day before AF shows up, and of course the cramps got worse.

Andthepupmakes3:  Oh yah.  Cramps.  I’d managed to forget they happen in the last 16 years.  🙁

I stopped about three months ago. Other than my menstruation is worse. I don’t notice much of a difference at all.

I’m about six weeks out, after being on the pill for more than 18 years. I definitely notice the increased sex drive! But I also have awful acne all around my jawline now, and was *really* moody and emotional (constantly crying and getting upset at Darling Husband, which is not like me) for the first 3 weeks or so– that’s luckily leveled off now as my body has figured out how to have normal hormone levels (the acne is still bad though). I Oed on day 22 off the pill, and got my first period on day 33, so not too far off normal. But I know that spotting, short cycles, and really long cycles are all normal too.

Miss-Joker:

My PMS is back, my stomach pain si back when I have my period. Flow is significanlly heavier compare to the years that I’m on pills.  My body is no longer as bloat and lost 7 lbs immediately within a month

I’m not TTC, but I replaced the pill with a copper IUD.  I had been on the pill for 12+ years, so I had terrible hormonal acne (no hormones with the copper IUD), bled for a month and a half, irregular periods, the works.  It was awful and my body is finally almost completely back to normal, I’ve had the IUD for a year this month so it took a while (I was expecting 3-6 months, not 9-12, but it is finally ending!).  I don’t think I’ll ever go back on the pill since I had so much trouble coming off it.
