When I was the Maid of honor in my friends wedding she got me trees. I am a hippy at heart and she donated money to have trees planted in a forest for me. It was really sweet, and personal.

Other than that I didn’t actually like any other gift
I got a personalized pink bag from things remembered. (I hate pink)
I’ve got a lot of jewelry that I can’t wear because I have such sensitive skin, but I was expected to wear for the wedding day. I did wear it and had infected ears and a rash on my neck for a days after.

I have seen weddings were the bride wanted the girls to wear certain shoes and she bought them as a gift or jewelry. In theory I think it is nice because then the bridesmaids don’t have to spend the money but if the shoes don’t fit or if they can’t wear the jewelry it would really stink.

I am thinking of getting each of my girls shoes that they really want. One wants a pair of Toms, one wants some Chucks and the other wants some Merrells. Or I might by them each massages for us to go together a few days before the wedding… I’m not sure yet though…

I bought each of my bridesmaids monogrammed bath robes. They all wore them in the hotel room while we were getting ready on the wedding day and it made for some really cute pictures!

Honestly, I know a lot of people hate this idea, but the best gift I got was my hair and make-up paid for.  I don’t care that much about getting it done, and since the bride wanted it, it was nice not to have to pay for it myself!  I’ve also had some other nice gifts; my sister gave me a pashmina (that I used at the wedding AND other times) and a gift card.  Oh, and matching underwear to the dress in case it was windy.  Which it was.  So I got to see that two other members of the wedding party opted to wear the matching underwear.  😀

I got a gorgeous fleur-de-lis necklace for a wedding I was in in New Orleans.  It wasn’t intended to be worn at the wedding, which was kind of nice.

I’ve gotten tote bags and things that say “bridesmaid”, and they’ve sat in my attic for years.  What on earth am I going to do with a bag that says Bridesmaid??  Also, I received a lovely necklace that went with our bridesmaids dresses, but I’ve never worn it since because it just doesn’t go with anything else.

I LOVE the bathrobe idea!

I love the necklaces I have gotten in two different weddings (both my sister in laws).  Each girl got a necklace specific to her, so they were all unique which I loved.

I am getting my bridesmaids each a bracelet.  I am having a destination in the carribean wedding and it is a bracelet that is only made in the carribean(its nice – silver with a little gold)  I got one when I was a little girl (they have different versions) and so it means a lot to me and now I can share that with my best friends!  I like that it has some meaning behind it and it is a elegant simple piece of jewelry.

I have gotten jewlery every single time and been expected to wear it for the wedding but never have worn it again after. I think paying for services whether it be hair/makeup the day of a spa massage or mani/pedi sometime before that day is a great gift because it’s a treat I might not have the money for but really enjoy.

I should have mentioned I was not expected to weat the items I got at the weddings I attended nor do I expect my bridesmaids to wear their bracelets at my wedding.

I’ve been in two weddings, and there’s only one gift that I still have and still use – it’s a monogrammed tote bag (it’s pretty big, so I use it for overnight trips, etc).

However, I got some gifts for my BMs that I’m really excited about. First, I got them a Kate Spade Chrissy wristlet (though it’s as big as a billfold wallet) that is silver to match our colors. And also these hand calligraphy notecards with their names on it that I got on etsy. PM me if you want the details on the notecards!

Well, I guess my favorite gift would have been the coach wristlet that I got from one of my friends weddings but to be honest, I’ve never even used it. The only other gifts that I’ve gotten have been jewelry and I’m personally not a fan of jewelry as bridesmaids gift. I’ve never liked a single piece that I’ve gotten.

My girls are each getting a chocolate brown cashmere cardigan that they can wear over their burnt orange bridesmaids dresses at our wedding (if they choose to).

This is actually a great question.  I don’t think I’ve really loved most of the gifts I’ve ever received as a Bridesmaid or Best Man, sadly.  Although I remember getting a monogramed bag and a necklace that had a green horseshoe pendant that I liked.  I’m obsesseD with green.  I’ve already gotten my BM’s a big monogramed tote and bracelet that they can wear that day or not.  I’m still trying to figure out what else to put in there.  I really like the monogramed robe and was going to look on etsy for a different necklace for each girl.  One of my friends who is getting married in March is getting her BM’s a magazine subscription and I thought that was brilliant.  Think I might steal that one too.

One time I received a necklace.  I didn’t like it too much at the time, but I have found out that it goes with many outfits, so it’s really nice.  I’ve probably worn it a dozen times since the wedding.
