I loved loved loved a snow globe we got from Things Remembered that had a bride and groom dancing to a melody – it also had our names engraved with our engagement date

MrsBob2Be:  We didn’t get any engagement gifts. I don’t believe I’ve ever given an engagement gift.

Tea towels that I used daily, bed sheet set, and blanket. Though we did mentioned that in general we like solid colors in white/blue, so we got the items in colors that we like.

MrsBob2Be:  I usually stick to a bottle of bubbly and a bridal magazine, tied with a cute ribbon and a little hand written note. It’s fun, inexpensive (depending on the wine), and lets you express your excitement for her.

Little ring dishes/holders are cute gifts also.

The main enegagement gift we recived was from his mother, a basket with a couple bottles of wine and lots of snacks that we shared. I will always take wine and snacks regardless of occasion. As a friend you are not obligated to give anything. You could give a heartfelt card. DrunkInLove:  idea of champange and bridal magazine is perfect. Simple and cute.

Ditto on the ring dish. One of my BMs gave me a cute ring dish that says MRS. I use it daily and think of her.

The best (and only) gift we’ve received was money for the wedding from my parents.

I typically give a gift card to purchase a personalized address stamp and it has been well received and well used with invitations, Save-The-Date Cards, and thank you notes!

Engagement gifts aren’t the norm here but a few of our friends clubbed together to buy us a night at a swish hotel the night of our wedding. It’s near our venue and we went to the nice bar inside the hotel for our first date so it was a really cute gift as not only a treat its also special to us.

My Mother-In-Law sent us a shelf which we now have by the door for keys and the like.  We both kinda went “engagement gift?  Okay thanks!”.  I’ve never given or recieved one (aside from that).  If I were, it would probably be something to help destress rather than to focus on the wedding -a comedy movie and awesome snacks or something similar.

We received a vintage keepsake wedding book that we can record everything from planning the wedding to the big day. It was very thoughtful and I plan to fill it out nicely when everything is said and done! It is something we will have to remember our day forever.

I received an adorable ring dish from my aunt that has a hand painted version of my ring in the center and scripting along the edge that says “and she lived happily ever after” with our wedding date.

My best friend/MOH needlepointed us a little cloth with our names in a heart and our engagement date on it!! She also gave it to us in a nice wooden frame.  It’s adorable and exactly the kind of thing I like to receive as a gift.  I’m pretty impressed, too, because she found out the day after we got engaged and gave it to us 3 days later.

Our favourite was our new Dining room table haha

My best friend made me a wine glass that says “Does this glass make me look engaged!?” with an arrow pointing to the left, assuming I’d be holding it with my left hand haha.  Its something she’d been sending to me on pinterest forEVER and I love that she made it herself 🙂

Also, FI’s cousin’s girlfriend made us a burlap “C” for the first letter of his last name with a few silk sunflowers on it to hang our our future door/wall when we get a house 🙂  I love that because it’s the first thing that was kinda for our shared last name.

Engagement gift, what’s that? Lol.

Actually, I guess it was the money from my parents and DH’s parents to pay for the wedding. That was amazing of them. As for trinkets amd stuff, we had plenty of those for wedding gifts.
