I had ice cubes and chicken broth for about two days after I had both cesarians. The spinal I had made me sick. I was nauseous and dizzy. The first thing after those two days was hospital food…but it was so good compared to ice cubes, chicken and beef broth and jello.

I had a c-section so was just drinking fluids, mostly coconut water that first day but my mom brought some homemade chicken broth which was totally helped revive me. The hospital food was atrocious but my mom brought me some potatoes and pureed beets to help my digestive system start moving along, and then the same chicken soup but with noodles. Then Fiance brought me my favourite chocolate.

HeyJude72: My hospital is on a very busy road with tons of restaurants/fast food joints. You could throw a rock from the parking lot and hit a Chipotle.. so I’m thinking (if I’m feeling up to it) I might demand some chips & guac 🙂 There’s also a Chic-Fil-A across the street, chicken nuggets, yummm!

My first it was the middle of the night, had been 24 hours since I’d eaten and he was in the NICU. They forgot to get me dinner, so I had a tuna sandwich from the mat ward fridge. With my 2nd I vaguely remember munching toast while they checked him out and stitched me up.

HeyJude72: I specifically picked the hospital I went to BC they have great food (and great care!) I can’t remember exactly what I got, I just know I could finally eat around 3pm and the kitchen was only open for room service until 8 or 10 I can’t remember which. And I was allowed 3 meals a day with 2 entrees each (enough food for 2 people each meal) my Fi and I ordered all 3 meals between 3 and closing.
I kept getting these awesome potatoes that had green peppers in them as one of my sides for like every meal!

All I remember is I was starving and they told me I could only eat broth. Um, no! I ordered food anyway and I was fine. I don’t remember what it was but I do remember getting chocolate cake for dessert. I pretty much had not eaten for 2 days.

My son was born at 3am and my mom brought me a breakfast sandwich and pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks. It was amazing lol. But I had had a c-section and apparently was supposed to be on liquids only and didn’t know it. The nurse later asked me how I was holding down the liquids and I told her I’d eaten real food already because I didn’t know I couldn’t and she seemed surprised and was just like ok as long as you’re holding it down ok then it’s fine. Best breakfast ever.
ETA- for most of the rest of my stay I did eat hospital food for lunch anyway. Mostly grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup. It was actually good!
