My baby was born at 7:50 at night and by the time I got stitched up and in my hospital bed for the night it was almost 9 pm and the pizza place inside the hospital was about to close so my sister and SIL went and got us pizza. The only toppings that were left were pepperoni and mushrooms and I hate mushrooms, so I took them off but the pizza tasted amazing because I was so hungry. I also had a can of coke, I was so thirsty. Before I gave birth Darling Husband joked about getting me my fave hamburger and fries from this burger joint I love.

My first child was born at 2 in the afternoon. I was famished by the time dinner came and I scarfed down the hospital food which was actually really good (roasted chicken with mashed potato and brocolli). I was so hungry and I woke up in the middle of the night and ate a sandwich.

My second chld was born at 2 in the morning so my first meal was the breakfast that the hospital provided. I don’t really like bkfst food all that much, and dh knows this so he went out and got me some baked potato soup (which I love) from a local restaurant.

I don’t know if it was just me, but man, I remember how GOOD both of those meals were. Maybe the fact that I was famished had something to do with it!

I think it’s funny how popular the turkey sandwich is haha

That’s what I want really bad for my first meal… honey maple turkey on a roll from a good deli, with cheese and crumbled up potato chips on it mmmmm.. if you’ve never crumbled chips on your turkey sandwich you are missing out!! haha

McDonalds    It was the only thing open nearby at midnight.  Hospital food is closed, restaurants are closed.  Only fast food!!  I wanted an ice water more than anything, that may have been the best thing I had after delivery.

They gave me a really crappy turkey sandwich after they placed my cervidil and told me that was the last food I’d get to eat until after delivery.  So happy I had broughten my jimmy johns sandwich with me.  I ate that the night before she was born.

Daizy914:  my doc is ok with occasional hot dogs as long as they are fully cooked. She just wants me to avoid them because of high nitrates and fat. You should check with your doctor on it. Maybe you can have an early treat.

HeyJude72:  I remember the meal vividly. It was a cheeseburger, salad with ranch dressing, juice, fruit and crackers. I was a vegetarian for 14+ years and NEVER ate ground beef. I was starving after my long labor and delivery and I devoured that cheeseburger in mere moments. I told my husband it was the best damn thing ever…which he laughed at. He said it looked disgusting and even he wouldn’t have eaten eat. 😛

HeyJude72:  Dear Daughter was born at 330am so I got a hospital breakfast…. kinda gross lol but it was an “omelette”, a small muffin, and an orange. Then I sent my Darling Husband out for some pizza later on lol

Foie gras, blue cheese and goat cheese with bread: all the things I wasn’t allowed ad craving during pregnancy. I had it all prepared at home and my husband brought it in. The hospital food was just horrible – luckily, I never had to eat it.

I haven’t the faintest idea. I don’t remember at all. Mine were c-sections, so the first meal was probably beef broth and jello, but I don’t remember for sure and have no recollection whatsoever what my first real meal afterwards was.

When my dad had his new baby (well, his new wife had their new baby) the hospital served them a steak dinner and they each got a mini bottle of champagne! They split one bottle and saved the other, saying they were going to let the baby drink it on her 21st birthday. Cute idea. He was an alcoholic though, so I kinda suspect it didn’t last that long. Don’t think I’ll ask my sister about it, just in case it never made it’s way to her.

C-section mom, after more than 33 hours of labor then a C-section, baby sent to NICU, then being told I had to walk before I could rest my first meal after my Dear Daughter birth was about 43 hours and I had a yougurt, blueberry muffin and grapes. I was so afraid to eat anything greasy for fear of throwing up or pooping! Let me tell you that yogurt tasted like pure heaven!
